Taldomsky District is an administrative and municipal district (raion), one of the 38 in Moscow Oblast, Russia.
Geography
Located in northern portion of the oblast, 111 km from Moscow. Area: 1,510 km². Bordered Tver Oblast in the north, Vladimir Oblast in the northeast, Dmitrovsky and Sergiyevo-Posadsky Districts of Moscow Oblast in south and west. Average altitude is about 125-150 m above sea level with the highest point 167 m. Main rivers include Dubna and Khotcha River, both are right tributaries of Volga Rivers. Moscow Canal that connects the Moskva River with the Volga River forms western border of the district. Main lakes include Kuznetsovskoye, Salkovskoye and Zolotaya Veshka Lakes those located in northern portion of the district. The district has reserves of peat (2nd largest in the Moscow Oblast).
Population
District’s population according 2010: 44,274.[2] There is the only one city in the district – Taldom.
