Prince Teri'itapunui

Prince Teri'itapunui (born in May 20 1846 - died in Septembre 17 1888) was a member of the Pomare family, a royal dynasty in Tahiti.

Biography

He is the fifth son of Pomare IV, queen of Tahiti and of her second husband (also first cousin), the prince consort Ari'ifaite a Hiro, leader in Huahine.

At birth, it features the title of grand chief of the district Afa'ahiti, in Tahiti.

Princesse Teri'inavahoro'a

In June 1862,he married the Princess Teri'inavahoro'a, After the royal family Ma'i from Bora-Bora. From this union were born two daughters died without issue :

  • Son Altesse Royale la Princesse Teri'inavahoro'a Pomare : born in April 12 1873, died in April 15 1874 ;
  • Son Altesse Royale la Princesse Edith Marie Pomare : born February 3 1882, died in 1899. She was betrothed to the king in December 1898, king of Tonga, Tupou II, then died less than a year later without being crowned queen consort of Tonga.

The main function of public Teri'itapunui was that of President of the High Court called Tahitian To'ohitu competent jurisdiction native land. When his brother, King Pomare V, decided to donate their States to France, he is among the notables who, June 29, 1880, countersign the deed of assignment from Tahiti to France.
