He fled to Miami, Florida in 1962 following the rise of communism in his beloved island and where he continued to paint until the year 2000. His work began influenced by constructivist-inspired geometric forms but in the late 1960s his work began to loose the hard geometric forms and began to take on various landscapes suggesting almost sensual, organic forms that have been called Oneiric Luminism. His works are in important museums, institutions and collections around the world. A recent retrospective of 60 years of his work was on view at The Lowe Art Museum at The University of Miami. It featured works from the 1940s through 2000. As Soriano once said I do not pretend to transmit a message of reality: I am moved by the longing to travel through my paintings in a dimension of spirit where the intimate and the cosmic converge.[reply]
