OmniPeace is a fashion brand founded in 2007 by Mary Fanaro and based in Los Angeles, California.[1][2] The OmniPeace Mission statement states that "OmniPeace addresses vital, compassionate needs through the sale of fashionable consumer products. Our products unite people throughout the world in an effort to break the cycle of poverty through peace and education, participate in emergency relief for humanitarian crisis, and raise funds and awareness for institutions saving lives." Each year, the brand donates a percentage of its profits to various humanitarian organizations.[3] OmniPeace is partners with Dr. Jeffery Sachs of Millennium Promise,[4] and proceeds have gone towards building schools in Senegal and Malawi through buildOn; they have also supported the construction of City of Joy, a center for abused women in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, through UNICEF and V-Day.[5][6] has partnered with the Lalela Project,[1], and buildOn.[6] and has recently partnered with the New York Giants to send two convoys into Somalia during the worst famine in our history, feeding over 5,00 families.
In 2005, after watching a Live 8 concert, Fanaro had the idea of introducing a food line called "Peace of Chocolate" whose profits would benefit initiatives to end African poverty; she later decided to create a clothing label.[6] Fanaro met with the founder of Millennium Promise and proposed that her idea benefit the charity.[2] Two weeks before OmniPeace opened in June 2007, Fanaro was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, but the brand still launched as planned in New York City and Los Angeles.[7] The OmniPeace T-shirt collection was the first collection that OmniPeace released.
OmniPeace has donated more than $350,000.
OmniPeace clothing has been worn by celebrities such as Lindsay Lohan, Naomi Campbell, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Sheryl Crow, Common, David Beckham, Kevin Costner, Casey Affleck, and Peter Facinelli.[2][6][9] The brand's products are sold online, as well as through major US retailers such as Macy's and Nordstrom, and in smaller boutiques.[1][2] In addition to hats and children's apparel,[7] OmniPeace also sells non-clothing items, including chocolate, jewelry, and handbags.[10]
