Sven Bender (born 27 April 1989) is a German footballer who plays for the German Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund. He is the twin brother of Lars Bender, who plays for Bayer Leverkusen.
Bender is a former German youth international having played at all levels. At under-19 level, he was a part of the team that won the 2008 European Under-19 Championship. Bender made his debut for the senior team in a friendly match against Australia on March 2011.
International career
Bender's first call-up for the senior German national football team came in February 2011, ahead of a friendly against Italy in Dortmund, where he remained an unused substitute. Bender made his debut for Germany in a 2-1 loss to Australia.
