USS Liberty (LCS-2), a Freedom-class littoral combat ship, was the third ship of the United States Navy to be named for the concept of liberty. The contract to build her was awarded to Austal USA of Mobile, Alabama, on 14 October 2005 and her keel was laid down on 19 January 2006.
