Red Steel is a game for the Nintendo Revolution created by developer Ubisoft. It was unveiled in the May 2006 issue of magazine Game Informer. Scans of the magazine were uploaded onto blogging site Endangered Gamer on April 7, 2006. "Red Steel" was the first game for the Nintendo Revolution platform to release in-game screenshots thus giving the public an idea of what the console is capable of.
Story
The player takes on a role of a nameless American man, who is engaged to a Japanese-American woman named Myu. The story begins when Myu is kidnapped from a posh restaurant where you inteded to meet her father for the first time. You later learn that the father is a Yakuza boss named Sato, who owns an important ceremonial katana. A younger Yakuza lord name Tokal covets the sword, and had mortally wounded Sato in his attempt to get it. When the attempt failed, Tokal had Myu kidnapped, in hopes of trading her for the sword. Sato insteads gives the sword to you, expressing his wish of you using it in order to rescue his daughter.
Gameplay
The game will take full advantage of the Revolution's unique motion-sensitive controller, along with the "nunchuku" attachment. Some ideas of the game that have been confirmed are the use of a katana (Japanese sword) and a gun. It has been confirmed that the game will be extremely immersive (i.e: twisting the controller while handling the gun causes the gun to twist as well). Players can push objects to use them as cover by pushing the controller forward. Pulling the controller backwards relods the gun. You can also lob grenades in a more realistic fashion, with underhand or overhand, employing the controller as the thing you 'throw'.
As of the writing of this article, the May 2006 issue of Game Informer has not been released widely, as only a few people have the issue in question. When it has been, and more information on the title has been announced, this line should be removed.
