Mini survival kits or "Altoids tins" was created by many people simply by putting some supplies in an Altoids tin and sealing with some adhesive tape. Later, evolved in more complex (and standardised) models, best showed by BCB International Combat Survival Tin [1]. Also it can be easily made by putting together supplies brought from various manufacturers (miniature compasses like Silva SERE 40, Esbit fuel tablets, a lighter or few matches, an unlubricated condom for water carry, some paracord and duct tape).

The best example for this kind of survival kit you'll find here[2]
