Wind and Cloud, also known as Fung Wan and The Storm Riders, is a Taiwanese television series based on Hong Kong artist Ma Wing-shing's manhua series Fung Wan. Vincent Zhao and Peter Ho starred as the titular protagonists. The series was first broadcast on CTV in Taiwan in 2002, and was followed by Wind and Cloud 2 in 2004.

Plot

The plot is based on the first two story arcs of the comic series. Lord Conqueror of the Under Heaven Society learns from the prophet Mud Buddha that he will rise to prominence in the jianghu (martial artists' community) with the help of Wind and Cloud. Later by chance, Conqueror meets two boys named Wind and Cloud and immediately accepts them as his students, tutoring them in martial arts. When Wind and Cloud are grown up, Mud Buddha reveals to Conqueror that the latter's downfall will also be due to Wind and Cloud. To prevent that from happening, Conqueror uses a scheme to turn Wind and Cloud against each other but the plan fails. The rest of the plot focuses on the character development of Wind and Cloud, such as their relationships with their respective lovers, and their journey to becoming supreme fighters.

In the middle of the story, Conqueror is betrayed by his followers and loses his powers and is placed at the mercy of Cloud. He promises to repent and retire permanently from the jianghu, so Cloud spares him. In the meantime, a Japanese warrior called Lord Godless arrives in China with his clan with the intention of dominating the Chinese jianghu. Wind and Cloud join forces to defeat Godless and drive away the Japanese invaders. Towards the end of the series, it is revealed that Conqueror has been secretly plotting to stage a comeback and realise his ambition of ruling the jianghu. Wind and Cloud combine efforts to overcome Conqueror and restore peace, thus fulfilling Mud Buddha's prophecy.
