After leaving Sepultura in late 1996, frontman Max Cavalera formed Soulfly. The band's first lineup included drummer Roy Mayorga and guitarist Jackson Bandeira (ex-Chico Science), along with former Sepultura roadie Marcello D. Rapp on bass (who'd previously played in The Mist alongside former Sepultura guitarist Jairo Guedz). Their self-titled debut album was released in 1998. Soulfly's second album, Primitive, was released in 2000. In June 2002, they released simply titled 3, followed by Prophecy, in March 2004. Soulfly's fifth studio album, Dark Ages, was issued in October 2005. Soulfly's sixth full-length, Conquer, was released in July 2008.
