The Bridge (known as "Bron" in Swedish or "Broen" in Danish) is a Danish / Swedish crime thriller. The series aired in the autumn of 2011 every Wednesday night at 8pm in Denmark and 9pm in Sweden. It is produced by DR, the Danish public broadcaster, and SVT, the Swedish public broadcaster.

Writer

The Bridge was the first joint creative and financial set up between Denmark and Sweden. Hans Rosenfeld was the main author and concept creator of the crime investigation set on the Øresund bridge, and episode writers with him were Nikolai Scherfig and Måns Mårlin.[1] IMDB indicates that the series was written by Björn Stein.[2]

The series stars Sofia Helin, Kim Bodnia and Dag Malmberg. [3]

Plot

The series begins with a dead body being found, the top half of which belongs to a Swedish politician, the bottom to a Danish prostitute. [4]

Season 1

Season 1 consisted of ten episodes. Each episode is 60 minutes in length.

Season 2

Season 2 has been announced and is due to start shooting in October 2012, with a broadcast date of Autumn 2013.[5]

International Sales

In the UK, the series has been sold to the BBC, and will be shown on BBC Four after the current season of Borgen has ended.[6]
