Øresund Region

Øresundsregionen is a transnational region in southern Scandinavia on the shores of Øresund. The eastern Swedish part and the western Danish part is connected by a bridge, an artificial island and a tunnel.

The population is as of january 2004 3,583,842 (Denmark: 2,431,145; Sweden: 1,152,697) on an area of 20,869 km&sup2 (Denmark: 9,834 km² Sweden: 11,035 km&sup2); the density is 171.7/km&sup2 .

Øresundsregionen is divided into five statistical regions: 1. Hovedstadsregionen (DK), 2. Vestsjælland + Storstrøm + Bornholm (DK), 3. Skåne North East (SE), 4. Skåne North West (SE), 5. Skåne South (SE).
