"She Will"
Song

"She Will" is a song by American rapper Lil Wayne, released as the fourth single from his ninth studio album, Tha Carter IV. The song features Drake. It was released as a digital download and has been added to rhythmic radio stations on August 16, 2011 in the U.S.[1][2] It was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America for sales of 1,000,000 copies on October 28, 2011.[3]

Background

On August 7, 2011, a video of a recording session of the song was released with Lil Wayne previewing his verse to Drake on Skype. It was directed by DJ Scoob Doo and later on was showcased on MTV News.[4] The song previously was to be titled "Maybe She Will",[5] and originally featured a verse from Rick Ross, however it did not make the final cut.[6]

Remixes

There are two official remixes. The first features a third verse from Rick Ross. It is the original version of the song.[6] The second remix features a verse from T.I. replacing the first verse, along with new ad-libs from Lil Wayne.[10]

Chart performance

On August 18, 2011, It debuted on the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart at #48 and eventually ascended to #1.[13] In its first week, it sold 255,000 digital copies, debuting at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100. This made it the highest charting single from the album thus far, as well as Wayne's second highest charting song overall, behind "Lollipop".[14][15] The song was certified double-platinum by the RIAA on March 15, 2012
