Think Positive is the first association founded by people living with HIV/AIDS in Lebanon, based in Beirut. The non-governmental organization is concerned in the HIV/AIDS issues in Lebanon, where the accumulated number of declared infections passed 1253 in the year 2009. The organization plans a set of activities designed to emphasize the problem of stigmatizing HIV, the lack of social and medical care of them, and the HIV phobia widening among both of people living with HIV and general population. Maintaining the awareness of the necessary knowledge for prevention among people is a must, disregarding the age factor since more than 51.5% of persons living with HIV are between 30 and 50 years old. The remaining HIV+ percentages are less than 30 years or more than 50 years old, a fact that necessitates a high concern towards all age segments at the level of counselling and assistance.

Vision

The organization aims to be "People Living with HIV (PLHIV)", not dying because of it. Its vision is to make every HIV positive person in Lebanon think positive. Think Positive seeks to eliminate ignorance, enhance awareness, destroy deprivation and phobia among People living with HIV/AIDS and fight stigma and discrimination that affect persons living with HIV and most at-risk populations—including men who have sex with men, sex workers, injection drug users, and foreigners working as housekeepers.

“HIV+ Phobia” campaign

The organization started implementing the activities of its regional campaign against “HIV+ Phobia” on October 15, 2009 in Lebanon, Jordan and Saudi Arabia, in collaboration with the Lebanese NAP, the Jordanian NAP, The Saudi association for People Living with HIV (PLHIV), Bushra Center (Jordan), Global Network of PLHIV (GNP+), World AIDS Campaign (WAC), dance for life international, UNDP, UNFPA and YPEER.

Various social and lobbying activities were implemented in the three countries such as Wall Street advertisement, signature collecting for better acceptance of people living with HIV in their societies, lectures in schools and universities and other activities.

Think Positive also sought new partners in other countries in the Middle East and North Africa region in coordination with its main partners.
