Romain Amalfitano (born 27 August 1989 in Nice) is a French footballer who plays for French club Reims in Ligue 2. He plays as an attacking midfielder and is the younger brother of Morgan Amalfitano who currently plays for Marseille.[1] The younger Amalfitano previously played for Châteauroux and Evian before joining his current club on a two-year contract.[2]

A number of media source have claimed that he signed a pre-contract agreement to join Newcastle United on 1 July 2012 on a 3 year deal, although this has not been officially confirmed.[3][4][5]
