Tommi Parzinger

Tommi (Anton) Parzinger (1903-1981) was a German designer, born in Munich. He trained at Kunstgewebeschule (School of Arts and Crafts), and began designing ceramics, wallpaper, furniture, textiles, and lighting. He moved to the United States in 1932, settled in New York in 1935, and began to design glassware, china, and furniture for Rena Rosenthal, a furniture and accessories shop. In 1939, he formed his own company, Parzinger Inc., and began to exclusively focus on furniture and silver. He renamed his company Parzinger Originals in 1946, and had several shops in Manhattan. The glamorous, sophisticated lines associated with the 1930's and 1940's design are evident in Parzinger's work, along with the more colorful influences of 1950's and 1960's design.[1]
