"significant controversy due to the marketing practices of company president Lynn Thompson"---
Please explain. What controversy? Why is it a controversy to make "bold claims"? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.46.175.29 (talk) 20:19, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
It should be mentioned that Cold Steel now almost exclusively uses 1055 carbon steel.

Cold Steel has Low quality weapons, as their tang is not a true full tang, evidence of these can be seen on Tosh.0 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.196.142.181 (talk) 09:33, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
The bit about Peter LaGana and tomahawks isn't entirelly true. LaGana sold The American Tomahawk Company back when all they made was the same green handled axe from 'nam. A few years later LaGana started another company with the same name and used it to market a 'modernized' version of the original tomahawk. If I recall correctly part of the purchase deal of the business would be that LaGana was allowed to found another company with the same or similiar name later on, which he did, this is why Cold Steel and LaGana's new company offer two different versions of a similiar tomahawk design marketed under similiar brand names.
In other words the two companies are affiliated in several ways, one of which would be Cold Steel being the current maker and technical owner of the original ATC tomahawk design, and for awhile a person was able to order Cold Steel tomahawks off of LaGana's new webstore.
Edit: For those wondering, no, the Cold Steel tomahawks suck, the metal in them is way too damn soft to have any use as an axe, it's also a universal hardening (softening?...(annealing!)) instead of differential like the original had. That spike opposite of the blade will ding and chip away into nothing relatively quickly if you ever try throwing the tomahawk like LaGana used to show in his videos. Piss poor quality with zero control was one of the reasons LaGana eventually stopped promoting Cold Steel made tomahawks of his own design.
