Compass Air is an unofficial name for the rumored regional carrier subsidiary to Northwest Airlines. (Previously known as "NewCo")

It is speculated that this branch of the airline will be founded flying Embraer E-Jets, or Bombardier CRJ-900s to replace the aging DC-9s, and will operate under a separate operating certificate from mainline due to pilot union regulations. Backing up this speculation, Northwest Airlines purchased the operating certificate of now defunct Independence Air on March 10,2006, for $2 Million.
