Re: UC Davis pepper-spray incident
- The article is clearly about the protest movement, and not 'just' the "UC Davis pepper-spray incident".
The primary topic, importance, and significance of this encyclopedia article concerns the UC Davis pepper-spray incident, not "Occupy UC Davis". This statement is supported by the preponderance of reliable sources on this subject, the majority of which are about the pepper-spray incident not the Occupy group or its protest movement. This is reflected by the fact that of the 65 sources currently in use in this article, almost all of them are about the pepper-spray incident. Therefore, I will be moving the article back to its appropriate title. If you wish to move it to an article about "Occupy UC Davis", you will need to show that there are enough reliable sources about just that subject. Viriditas (talk) 22:10, 15 March 2012 (UTC)

Change of name of article
Hi. You seem to have changed the name of a place 'Maira Amjad Ali' to 'Maira Jamad Ali'? This article is being considered for deletion. The correct name of this place/location IS Maira Amjad Ali. 'Amjad Ali' is a name, but 'Jamad Ali' means nothing at all. Could you please explain why you felt that this place should be called 'Maira Jamad Ali'? I hope you dont take this negatively, but I would like to know and would pl request you to put the correct name back, thanks Khani100 (talk) 18:50, 21 April 2012 (UTC)Khani100

- I could very well be mistaken, but per English, Maira Jamād Ali appears to be the correct English-language spelling. Northamerica1000(talk) 18:55, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
Dear sir, you are certainly mistaken. I assure you that there is a place called Maira Amjad Ali here but NO Maira Jamad Ali--maybe all these sites are mistaken. Since this is a name of a person who founded this place (pl read the article) there is no question of a 'correct' English spelling. If youll excuse the simile, its like someone from Pakistan saying that the correct Urdu name of 'New York' is 'Navi Yaraak'. Id be gld if you could just please revert the article to its original status, thanks. I hope that you will not be offended. Regs, Khani100 (talk) 19:02, 21 April 2012 (UTC)Khani100
- Done. Article has been renamed back to Maira Amjad Ali. I wonder why English-language websites and sources refer to it as Maira Jamād Ali? I don't speak Urdu, so I have taken the advice of User:Khani100 here and at the article's Afd discussion. Northamerica1000(talk) 19:10, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
Thanks sir. I appreciate this v much. In fact, I wonder myself why these sites have given the wrong place name? Possibly some major spelling mix up/mistake? If so, then these should be corrected, so that this article can perhaps be saved, since its been nominated for deletion by another user/editor. Khani100 (talk) 19:15, 21 April 2012 (UTC)Khani100
- While the spelling is in contention, it appears that the information on the pages I've linked above in this discussion pertains to the village of Maira Amjad Ali. Northamerica1000(talk) 19:17, 21 April 2012 (UTC)

100K Awards
Please take a look at User:Buster7/Sandbox-100K Awards. As you can see, at the request of WereSpielCheckers, I have been handing out the 100K Awards since about this time last year. With the help of another editor we created what I think is a pretty cool barnstar. Lately, Ive run across the barnstar in places where it surprised me. Don't get me wrong...I don't mind you using it. That's what barnstars are for after all. But this one is for a specific accomplishment to a specific editor at a specific time...and when you give them out it most likely duplicates what I have already done. I get my impetus from the List of Wikipedians by Number of Edits. For the purpose of this Service Award, its a fair, controlled and verifiable tool. Ive had editors ask for the Award in advance and I had to ask them to wait until they achieved 100K on the list. Again...I don't have a problem with you giving out duplicates. I just thought I would let you know that despensing the 100000 Edits Award is in capable hands. ```Buster Seven Talk 05:48, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for the information. I was using Wikipedia:List of Wikipedians by number of edits as a summary. I generally check revision pages prior to awarding the star, to first check if someone else has awarded it, in which case I don't award it. However, it is possible that a duplicates may have (rarely) been sent. I haven't awarded the award to anyone who hasn't attained the 100,000 count. Nice job creating the star! If you've already got it covered, maybe I'll just chill on it then. Northamerica1000(talk) 19:14, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

Blog source
Hey Northamerica1000 :) Just wanted to mention, since I saw you removed a Mediaite source from the AFD describing it as a blog. I don't think this falls under the self published source term of a blog. It falls under the policy of WP:NEWSBLOG, which is acceptable. Also, there are a bunch of new sources today, such as [2][3] Not sure if it's worth the time including them or not, but I thought I would mention it - you seem more up to date on the article. - Thanks. I'm working to make this a high quality article from the start. There's several steps involved, including copy editing the text from articles for this article, copy editing the articles that information is being derived from in the process (might as well improve those too in the process, when needed), shuffling back and forth between articles, wikification that includes pertinent links while not over-wikifying, adding and formatting sources, cross checking information to maintain factual accuracy, verification, and other stuff. In the process, I've been cropping images for this article, because the cropped images are looking nicer per this article's formatting. This involves many extra steps at Commons, but it's worth it. The goal: have fun and improve the encyclopedia, while learning about topics in the process! Northamerica1000(talk) 11:19, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

Mithila (Nepal)
The reason I put a {{Clarify}} by "connects to" in the sentence "At its western end it connects to the Indian state of Uttarakhand" is that it's ambiguous. Does it: go to the state boundary and then stop? enter the state? meet another road that enters the state? ... Instead of batting aside a request for clarification, it might have been be better to ask what the problem was. --Stfg (talk) 08:42, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for clarifying why the clarify template was placed! The sentence made sense to me; the road continues after the border, but feel free to re-add the template. Northamerica1000(talk) 10:22, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
