Diamond Necklace is a 2012 Malayalam film directed by Lal Jose, starring Fahad Fazil, Samvrutha Sunil, Gauthami Nair and Anusree in the lead roles. Released on May 4, the film received positive reviews from critics.
Plot
It tells the story of a young high flying Oncologist working in Dubai. where we saw the low life of the working class in Dubai and here we see the razzle-dazzle of the rich that can starry-eyed youngsters.[citation needed]
Dr. Arun (Fahadh Faasil) lives off plastic money (he is shown carrying around a wallet full of credit cards), drives swanky cars and enjoys life to the hilt without worrying about the future. The risk of such a lifestyle comes into focus when we see his car being towed by the creditors. Next we get to see that his upmarket lifestyle is like a house of cards, as he is banned from leaving the country by his creditors, even to see his sick mother.
The focus is on his relationship with the people around him. There is Savithri Akka (Rohini), his boss in the hospital who, in a sense, spoils him with sisterly affection.[citation needed]
Lakshmi [Gautami Nair], a newly recruited Tamil nurse in his department may be the first girl Arun is seriously smitten by. Rajasree is played by débutante,Anusree with whom he is tricked into marriage.

Production
The movie have Fahad Fazil in the lead with three heroines played by Samvrutha Sunil[1], Gauthami Nair and Anushree. Anusree was the winner of a reality show on Surya TV called Vivel Active Fair Big Break, one of the judges of which was director Lal Jose. The movie is produced by Lal Jose and P. V. Pradeep, under the banners of LJ Films and Anitha Productions. Produced as a debut venture of his production house LJ films, the movie have him uniting with Ikbal Kuttipuram.[2] list of the movie which have Sameer Thahir cranking the camera. Lyrics penned by Rafeeq Ahmed and music was composed by Vidyasagar.[3] It was widely reported that Amala Paul had agreed to play a female lead in the film[4], later she was later replaced by Gauthami Nair of Second Show fame.[5]
Few scenes of the film was shot inside and near Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

Release and reception
Diamond Necklace was released on 4 May to positive reviews by critics. The movie was profitable from day one. Close to 2 crore was recovered from Satelite, video, and overseas rights. Joy Alukkas group and Max Supermarket gave 80 Lakhs to market their name with this movie. The movie was Released in 24 theaters. 10 more theaters were added for the second week. Now successfully running in 34 theaters in Kerala.
- "Malayalam Net":- gave a good rating of 3/5 and said that "Diamond Necklace" is a Brilliant Movie.[6].
- Rediff rated the film 3.5 out of 5 stars and concluded that "One can just end by saying that Lal Jose puts his might behind the change sweeping Malayalam Cinema of late and has come out with a Diamond Necklace that is not to be missed."[7]
- Times of India gave the film 3 out of 5 stars and commented "it is a beautifully shot movie put together with some stirring moments and hearty one-liners by script writer Dr Iqbal Kuttipuram."[8]
- A critic from oneindia.com gave the film a positive review by saying it is definitly worth watch and praised acting of Fahad Fazil by commenting "Fahad Fazil is outstanding as usual."[9]
- Veeyen of Nowrunning.com rated the film 3 out of 5 stars and said "Diamond Necklace is a tender and hypnotically moving film, the serenity of which is quite deceptive. Underlying its silent sparkle is a fascinating tale, and the discerning viewer who can read between the lines, could unearth layers of meaning beneath its glint!".[10]
- Metromatinee.com also given a positive review by commenting "Diamond Necklace Glitters", and praised the performance of Fahad Fazil and Samvrutha Sunil.[11]
