The 2011 Northern Illinois Huskies football team were the champions of the Mid-American Conference (MAC), for the 2011 football season, winning the MAC championship game for the first time ever. Representing Northern Illinois University, the Huskies compete in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). The Huskies compete in the West Division of the MAC; 2011 marked their second consecutive division title. The head coach for the 2011 season was Dave Doeren; 2011 was the first year that Doeren, the former defensive coordinator for the Wisconsin Badgers, served as head coach for the Huskies. Doeren's team compiled a solid 11–3 record in the 2011 season, including victories in the MAC Championship Game and the GoDaddy.com Bowl in January.
