This article was nominated for merging with Wow! Gorillas on aug 28. The result of the discussion was keep. |
Assessment
This article desperately needs citations. Three of the citations are just to cite the fact that three buildings listed (all in the same sentence) are Grade II listed buildings in the UK. That means that 99% of the article is not cited. Otherwise this passes B-class critetia, so I am just listing it for attention. Donlammers (talk) 18:37, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
Nothing has been done about the citations. I'm demoting to C-class. Other than citations, it is B-class, so if anyone is interested in digging for information, this could be a B-class article fairly quickly. Don Lammers (talk) 15:36, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
- I've just tagged it with {{fanpov}}, {{refimprove}} (and {{section OR}}, {{rewrite section}} for the Animal overview). This material needs referencing and could also probably do with being pared down or reworking into list format, stating at a glance when the areas were introduced, etc. -- Trevj (talk) 11:30, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
- Obviously in need of improvement, but in general we should probably stick with narrative format unless we have a really good reason to turn it into a list or table. It would help if all of the sections were organized with the start year and basic description in the lead sentence, then followed by however much more detail can be added. - The result was keep into DESTINATION PAGE. -- Blood sliver (talk) 15:04, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
I propose that Wow! Gorillas be merged into Bristol Zoo. Wow! Gorillas is a small article, and would benefit being part of the zoo's page. The article on the Bristol Zoo lacks information on the zoos relation to the community other than Conservation efforts, and would also benefit.Blood sliver (talk) 20:06, 28 August 2011 (UTC)
I believe the Wow! Gorillas page should stay as a seperate page. Other similar projects have their own pages some of which are listed on: Cow Parade. I agree that the Bristol Zoo page is lacking, but the Wow!Gorilla project is quite high profile (logo is on a Formula 1 car now) and I intend to add information on it as it becomes available and I have time. Much of the details of the project are not really related to the zoo, although prehaps currently the article does talk about the zoo a little to much. Purest1 (talk) 15:16, 30 August 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose merge: This project has had a significant impact and although it needs improvement, is worthy of a stand alone existence. Jezhotwells (talk) 00:13, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
Photos and Galleries
This is an article about a zoo, not an article about an animal or animals. Photos should first be in the text next to what they illustrate, and second they should be of the zoo and not just closeups of animals that could be from any zoo. Animal closeups, no matter how great the photo, do not illustrate points in this article. Don Lammers (talk) 22:55, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
- I agree. This is an encyclopedia, not a fan site. -- Trevj (talk) 11:31, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
- Done Step 1. Removal of photos that only show non-notable animal closeups. I left the rest for now as I don't really have time to figure out what to do with them. Don Lammers (talk) 20:49, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
