Sanaya Irani (born on 21 September)[citation needed] is an Indian television actress known for her roles in television series such as Left Right Left, Radhaa Ki Betiyaan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi, Miley Jab Hum Tum and Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon. She currently plays the lead role of Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? on Star Plus.[1]

Early life

Sanaya was born and raised in Mumbai, Maharashtra, and received her schooling in Ooty.[2] She appeared in various advertisements and modelling.[3] She made her performing debut with Jagjit Singh's song "Tumko Dekha To Yeh", then appeared in other music videos[citation needed]. For almost four years, Sanaya continued doing commercials and music videos.She is the most loved actress on Indian Television and has been titled Television's Barbie Doll.[citation needed]

Bollywood debut

Sanaya Irani made her Bollywood debut debut through film Fanaa doing the small role of bobo as Kajol's friend . She was noticed in the film but didn't got popularity and success .After that she made her television debut.

Career

Her first portfolio was taken by photographer, now actor Boman Irani[4], with which she began her modelling career. She appeared in various advertisements for companies including Airtel, Reliance, and Pepsi in her early career[3]. She made her performing debut with Jagjit Singh's song "Tumko Dekha To Yeh", then appeared in other music videos[citation needed].

Sanaya then made her television debut in the SAB TV drama Left Right Left, as Sameera, a new joining cadet[5] which was followed by a role in Radhaa Ki Betiyaan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi on Imagine TV.

Her first role as a protagonist came in STAR One's Miley Jab Hum Tum[6], as the simple, studious and reclusive Gunjan, the younger sister of Nupur (Rati Pandey)[7]. She also briefly hosted the second series of Zara Nachke Dikha on STAR Plus with Mohit Sehgal [8].

After the end of Miley Jab Hum Tum, Sanaya's next major television role was as Khushi Kumari Gupta, the protagonist of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?. Though not initially the first choice for the role[9], Sanaya has gained popularity in many different countries for her portrayal of Khushi[10]. The show has also consistently maintained a position as one of the top ten daily dramas on Indian general entertainment channels[11].

Personal life

Sanaya was born and raised in Mumbai, Maharashtra, and received her schooling in Ooty[2]. She is also a Zoroastrian[12].She is currently dating her previous co-star Mohit Sehgal.[13][14].
