The Mosaic Whispers, frequently referred to as "The Whispers", is Washington University in St. Louis' oldest co-ed a cappella group. They perform music from a variety of genres, including pop, rock, jazz, country, and R&B. They have toured the United States and have produced 9 studio albums, in addition to being featured on a number of compilation albums, including Ben Folds' Ben Folds Presents: University A Cappella!.

History

The Mosaic Whispers was founded in 1991 by P. Daniel Newman, Jason Coryell, Brian Stephenson, Liz Radford, Josh Einsohn, Devorah Rosner, and Lora Norback. The founding members first sang together at Washington University's spring Thurtene Carnival - the oldest and largest student-run carnival in the United States. Auditions began that fall.

In the fall of 2004 and 2008, the Mosaic Whispers performed on MSNBC's Hardball with Chris Matthews while he was on Washington University's campus for the presidential and vice presidential debates, respectively. The Whispers have also sung on local radio station 93.7 The Bull[1] and Saint Louis' Fox 2 [2].
