Elvis Duran and The Morning Show (formerly known as The Z Morning Zoo) is the name of an American syndicated radio program hosted by Elvis Duran. The daily morning radio show currently airs on New York Top 40 station Z100. The show is also syndicated through Premiere Radio Networks on over 40 radio stations nationwide in such cities such as Philadelphia, Atlanta, Miami, Cleveland, Fort Myers, Richmond, Dayton, Des Moines, Davenport and Portsmouth. The show currently airs live every weekday from 6am-10am Eastern, 5am-9am on some stations. The show runs delayed in other time zones at different times depending on the station. A "Best of" show runs every Saturday morning (on most stations).
History
While it was not created at WHTZ, the popular morning zoo format became a widely-employed morning show concept based on its success at Z100 - even to the point of being implemented at Malrite's sister station in Cleveland, rock-formatted WMMS. Essentially, the Morning Zoo formula was grafted onto their already successful morning show, and lasted until 1994.
The Morning Show features Danielle's "Sleaze Report," "Phone Taps" (prank calls to an unsuspecting friend or relative of a listener), stunts performed by Greg T "The Round Headed Frat Boy"), Song Parodies, various contests, news and traffic reports (not available in syndication).
The show began syndication on May 22, 2006, starting with WHYI Y100 in Miami, Florida, followed by WIOQ Q102 in Philadelphia on July 23, 2008 and began airing on Cleveland's Kiss FM on Aug 25th 2008. They are now on in over 40 markets.
Until May 2008 the show was known as "Elvis Duran and The (Y/Z) Morning Zoo", but the "Zoo" references were replaced with "Show" by July, to make it more marketable to new affiliates that do not use a letter in their name, like Z100 and Y100. This was done because they were beginning to broadcast on WIOQ in Philadelphia along with other stations.
In March 2009, Premiere Radio Networks added Elvis Duran and the Morning Show to its lineup of nationally syndicated radio programs.
On March 22, 2010 longtime DJ of WHTZ and co-host of Elvis Duran and The Morning Show, John Bell announced it was his final show.
On May 29, 2012 Carolina Bermudez announced that she will be leaving the show to pursue a career opportunity in television at the end of June 2012. a.m.
