Rebecca "Beki" Lee (born 25 November 1986) is an Australian race walker. She finished fourth in the 20km walk at the 2012 Oceania & Australian Race Walking Championships. She was selected to represent Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the 20km walk event.
Personal
Nicknamed Babsie and Beki,[1][2] Lee was born on 25 November 1986.[2] She is from New South Wales,[1] growing up in Sydney's western suburbs.[3] She attended Minchinbury Public School and Colyton Public School[2] before going to high school at Rooty Hill High School and St Marys Senior High School.[1][2] She attended the Australian College of Physical Education where she started work on a Bachelor of Sports Business [1][2] in 2007[2] and was still enrolled via correspondence in 2012.[3] As of 2012[update], she lives in Canberra.[2]
Lee is 160 centimetres (63 in) tall, weighs 47 kilograms (104 lb).[2] and is right handed.[1]
Athletics
Lee competes in the 20km Road Walk events.[2] She started race walking when she was seven years old,[1] getting more serious at it when she was about ten years old.[3] Her personal best finish in an international competition was tenth place at the Taicang, China hosted 2011 IAAF Race Walking Challenge in the 20km race walk with a time 1:35.35 set.[1]
Lee is a member of the Asics West athletics club.[1][2][2] She has a scholarship at the Australian Institute of Sport.[3] She was coached by Marilyn Pearson from 2003 to 2010.[2] Brent Vallance then became her coach and is her coach as of 2012.[2] Before competitions, her pre-race ritual involves listening to Bob Dylan.[1]
Lee finished tenth in the 20km walk at the 2011 IAAF Race Walking Challenge in Taicang, China.[2] She finished tenth in the 20km walk at the 2011 World University Games in Shenzhen, China.[2] She finished second in the 20km walk at the 2011 Australian Race Walking Championships in Melbourne, Australia.[2] She did not finish in the 20km walk at the 2012 IAAF World Race Walking Challenge in Taicang, China.[2] She finished fourth in the 20km walk at the 2012 Oceania & Australian Race Walking Championships in Hobart, Australia.[2] She was disqualified from the 20km walk at the 2012 IAAF World Race Walking Cup in Saransk, Russia.[2]
Lee was selected to represent Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the 20km walk event.[4][3][5][6]
