Ty Wishart (born May 19, 1988) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman. He grew up in Comox, British Columbia, playing minor hockey there until his midget years. He is currently playing with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Playing career
Wishart was drafted 16th overall by the San Jose Sharks in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft from the Prince George Cougars of the WHL.
On July 4, 2008 Wishart's rights were traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning, along with defenseman Matt Carle, and 2 draft picks, in exchange for Tampa Bay's defensemen Dan Boyle and Brad Lukowich.[1]
On January 1, 2011, Wishart was traded by the Lightning to the New York Islanders for goaltender Dwayne Roloson.[2]
Wishart scored his first NHL goal on February 13, 2011 against Ryan Miller of the Buffalo Sabres.
