George Lambadaridis (born 23 April 1992) is an Australian football (soccer) player currently playing at Brisbane Roar in the Hyundai A-League.
Club career
George Lambadaridis started his career at local side Altona Magic SC, where at points he would captain the side against oppositional teams from the surrounding areas of Victoria. With the Magic, he would win his first team championship as the club won the 08/09 season.[1] The following year, he would play for fellow Victorian club Oakleigh Cannons FC, in which he would face his old side a few times during the season.[2] In continuing with the trend, he would again move at seasons end, this time abroad to Belgian side Club Brugge, where he would turn out regularly for the side's Under 19 team.[3]. Football Star Academy[4] was instumental in preparing and arranging George's first taste of Europe.
Throughout August 2011, he trialed with A-League side Brisbane Roar, to which he managed to convince Ange Postecoglou to hand him a contract. On 23 September 2011, he signed a 2 year deal with the club as a player on a full time Youth Contract, which allows him to be on the first team roster but be paid outside of the salary cap.[5] Whilst he was at Oakleigh Cannons, he trialed with River Plate's Australian base. They were interested, but due to FIFA laws, they were not able to sign him until he was 18.[6]
On 4 February 2012 he made his debut for Brisbane Roar in a match against Central Coast Mariners. He scored his first goal away to Gold Coast United, a cracker from long range.
