Preetha Reddy, managing director of Apollo Hospitals (Chennai), one of the largest healthcare conglomerates of India, is one of the pioneer businesswomen of India in the segment of healthcare industry. Currently, the Apollo Group has more than 6,400 beds and 16,500 employees, and has emerged as an integrated global healthcare provider, attracting patients from all over India, the other countries of the Indian subcontinent like Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, and Pakistan, the Middle East and the Gulf countries. A report indicates that the Apollo has “acquired the status of the leading private hospital chain in Asia and one among the largest in the World.”

Under Preeth Reddy’s leadership, The Apollo Specialty Hospital has emerged as a major oncology referral centre in Asia, and this hospital is one of the few places with facility to offer Bone Marrow Transplantation. The hospital was first to perform Cord Blood Transplantation in India.

Early years

She was born in 1957 in Hyderbad, but spent her early years in Chennai, did her schooling at Besant Arundale School. She graduated from Kalashetra, Chennai, under Rukmini Devi Arundale. She has three sisters, named, Shobhana, Sangeetha and Suneeta.
