Singarasa was a local Chieftan who ruled Arasikere,Hassan District, Karnataka, India during 12 century CE. [1]

Shifted to Kanakatte

An inscription dated 1132 CE states that Singarasa was shifted to Kanakatte from Arasikere and in Kanakatte he has built temple for shiva by installing linga and named the temple as Bettadakalideva.[1] He has also built another temple and named it as Singeshwara[1] (named after himself, as was the practice prevailing during those days).
