Self Made

Hi Txcrossbow.

I have been working on a submission which you declined due to the article potentially not being supported by adequate references. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Self_Made

I came to this page and replied to address the issue raised on the 14th of July and have been waiting to hear from you but my reply seems to have dissapeared from this page?

The issue as I believe was that you were of the opinion the article was not adequately supported by reliable sources. In the city of Canberra there is but one major newspaper, one music magazine and until recently one music based tv program. With "Big Dave" being from Canberra these are the most reliable sources available in this region that discuss the relevent topics and one link per outlet is included as reference.

On a larger scale the Dubcnn link outlines the deal between WIDEawake Entertainment and KP Records from the North American perspective. Dubcnn is seen as the Los Angeles authority on hip hop and there news and site content is respected in the hip hop genre.

The last link I supplied was to a youtube video. I understand that youtube is not all ways a reliable source but on this occassion the video features the making of the album including studio visits from the high profile guests. It was an official upload to the KP Records youtube channel.

Could you please take a look at my article and if you dont think it is supported by enough reliable sources then please advise me as to which sources are acceptable as reliable in the Canberra region and how I might go about completing this article for publishing on wiki.

Thank you for your help and patience. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Deanstokes (talkcontribs) 23:07, 21 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

              • Further discussion*******

Hi Txcrossbow.

I just noticed your referal to WP:NALBUMS on July 14. Im sorry I did not notice this yesterday. Thank you! That has cleared things up for me.

From reading that page and pages on notability (music) and general notability as off links to that page it looks as though my article is ready for publishing on wikipedia if you agree?

The album I have written about certainly meets the guidlines.

---"significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject" - I have included links to independant and very reliable sources. "Significant coverage" means that sources address the subject directly in detail, so no original research is needed to extract the content. Significant coverage is more than a trivial mention but it need not be the main topic of the source material"

--- "require a standalone article if it meets the General notability guideline" This album features the most notable guest list ever featured on an Australian hip hop release with platinum US based guests.

The release is also ground breaking in Australia due to the nature of the release. With Hip Hop being traditionally American it is the first distribution deal between and Australian and North American company in regards to Hip Hop music. This is part of the reason I used the dubcnn link as it is a reliable US based source to demonstrate the gravity of the deal. That article may well be the first time and Aussie has ever appeared on that site.

I hope this further discussion helps us move closer to publishing this article as I plan to elaborate on it prior and post release of the album if we can progress. If not I guess I'll try my hand at writing something else though I firmly believe as a hip hop fan and Australian music fan that this album needs a wiki article.

Thanks Tx!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Deanstokes (talkcontribs) 02:30, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Suite 709

Hi Txcrossbow,

My argument for the musical group in my new article being notable is how they're working with Google, specifically in using Google+ Hangouts to broadcast live concerts. They're leading the charge with this online tool. One of their songs is featured on a national Google ad. I believe that addresses criterion #12. I understand if you seek more, though, and I appreciate any additional feedback on how to improve this article.

Hector Guerra

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/_Hector_Guerra Hello! First of all, I have never written or contributed for Wiki before so thank you for your patience with me. I see I need to change my first reference as it is the artist's own page. I am waiting for chart and sales info from itunes to add to my references to confirm the "#1 album on iTunes Mexico" and "#1 song on itunes Mexico" statements, but that will take 24 hours. I also could not figure out how to link the article to the "latin music" section, but I wanted to take care of the writing and make sure the work met the criteria first. Also, I am having trouble pulling english language information on this artist, but I found a huge list of Spanish print magazine articles he has been featured in. Unfortunately, this list includes many scanned-in glossy magazine articles without dates of publication, making it very difficult to source them http://www.entrelineasent.es/hectorguerra/HectorGuerraNewsEnglish.pdf . The most notable I could find was a section in the Spain edition of Rolling Stone, and I am trying to pull a reference for their 2007 nomination for Best New Music Act by Canal Latino TV. Hopefully these new references will meet the criteria for notability, and then I am just waiting on iTunes to confirm the chart positions. Please let me know if there are any suggestions or personal-favorite-tutorials you can recommend to improve my contributions. Thank you! Alexia Banks

Re: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Alexia_Banks

Hi Stella, I've updated my articles for creation for Alexia Banks with new sources. I also removed unsupported biographical info about the author / filmmaker. Do yo have any suggestions to help me get this article accepted? You declined the submission due to lack of reliable sources. I now have sourced: several motion pictures (one produced by Columbia Tristar), two Florida newspapers with a combined daily circulation of over 350k (The Miami Herald and Sun Sentinel), along with a novel published by F+W Media subsidiary Crimson Romance. Thanks for your help.

You can go ahead and re-submit. I will pass on it and let a more experienced review decide if it is goo to go. Cheers! Stella BATPHONEGROOVES 18:33, 27 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

BETA tester!

Hi, I saw you the last week(s) very active at AFC and I believe you have CLUE and be some 'techie' and thus I want you as my primary 'beta tester'! What you have to do? Nothing except exchange the gadget(remove the check in the box) with my beta script (add to your skin following line: importScript('User:Mabdul/afc beta.js'); //beta script: User:mabdul/afc beta.js) and do 'some' reviews. Important: do test the new functionality related to biography articles when accepting and report your feedback at WP:AFCH/DEV. If you have any question, want some live talk, etc, come online at #wikipedia-en-afc connect. Regards, mabdul 22:01, 26 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

HELP... I disabled the old script but I don't know what you mean by adding to my skin. Please advise Cheers! Stella BATPHONEGROOVES 23:31, 26 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ups, sry, I didn't checked the links and thus didn't recognized that it is a redlink. Go to either your account's common JavaScript file or to your skin's JavaScript file: and add (without any leading whitespace):
importScript('User:Mabdul/afc beta.js'); //beta script: User:mabdul/afc beta.js
After saving, don't forget to bypass your browser's cache!. If you want to see my skin javascript file as an example, click here. Regards, mabdul 09:47, 27 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't like this script and now I can't find my skins. When I navigate there, it says the page is not found. Tell me how to delete this script from my profile. It does not work for reviewing and comments. Thank you. Cheers! Stella BATPHONEGROOVES 15:45, 28 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your skin file is here: User:Txcrossbow/vector.js; either remove the line; commenting it out by placing at the beginning of the line // or let an admin delete it by placing at the top {{db-u1}}. (For using again the gadget you have to turn it on again in your preferences file and then don't forget to bypass your cache again!) Regards, mabdul 19:55, 29 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Mad... I did try to use it, but I got frustrated that I would type out comments, then the script would stall and I had to type my comments again (or copy and paste my comment manually). I'm very sorry :( Cheers! Stella BATPHONEGROOVES 16:50, 30 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Let me guess: you are using Internet Explorer before version 9? *g* Moreover: did you try to wait? I'm doing a major cleanup of the code and some parts are not finished and thus need speed enhancements... mabdul 23:10, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Mabdul. Of course I tried waiting. I use Chrome at home and Firefox at work. Not a big fan of IE at all. What browser works best with the new script? I'd like to try it again. Cheers! Stella BATPHONEGROOVES 15:18, 1 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting: I know that IE has major speed problems (especially before IE), but never heard of Chrome and Firefox problems. I test the script on my on using Opera and Firefox, seldom with IE9 (mostly for additional debugging), but as noted it has still some major problems. I might ask you again to test it (maybe in a few weeks) on a more regular basis if I have fixed some nasty stuff; Feel free to do a major switch if you recognize some AFC biography drafts which you want to accept - I need some serious feedback on the new biography accepting stuff. mabdul 07:54, 6 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Oh wow! Thanks. You pointed something to me which breaks many stuff. Thanks. Everything which includes to add a comment might be broken through the big changes in the script. OK, I will fix this (I already know how), but this will take some days(?) and will fix many more problems (which were already on my list). If this is done, I will leave you a notice that the script is again usable for the daily usage! mabdul 09:15, 6 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Abbythecat (talk) 01:46, 27 July 2012 (UTC)Hi, I saw my submisiion for Mammoth Studios was rejected. Could you check Ktr101's page? He had given me hints on how to improve the submission, and I thought by doing as he suggested the article would be accepted. Maybe you could explain, or offer help to get it accepted? Thanks. Abbythecat (talk) 02:16, 27 July 2012 (UTC)Right ... so I put the reference in the article (as I was instructed to do) to get it accepted, and it's still rejected? Txcrossbow,

Thank you for reviewing my page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Merchenta . This is my first time submitting a Wikipedia page so I appreciate your patience and guidance. My page was rejected for insufficient third party sources. Hello, Steven. The article still lacks reliable resourcing. The reference you added only validates the awards, not the background information. Seek out news articles, trade journals, etc. See WP:RS

Maori Health

Hi You have declined my article on the book "Maori Education" on the grounds that it is not notable. I am not sure that the advice put up by Wikipedia on how to establish "notable" is very helpful here. The book is found in every New Zealand university library (indeed most have several copies). This is evidence that it is notable, and the library catalogs are accessible on line if someone needs to check. For example the University of Auckland (its catalog is called voyager) has 9 copies across various sites, including one on two hour loan. The book is also found in the public libraries of most, perhaps all, New Zealand cities (for example the Hastings library has a copy. Hastings is a city of 60,000). Even a google search finds the book is referenced in a number of university theses Notable is not the same as popular. I say that this book is notable and has been judged so by librarians (who work within tight budgets for new acquisitions) and university teachers. I can probably scratch up one or two newspaper reviews of the book but this would mean a bit of a search of newspapers from 2006/7. An encyclopedia is supposed to deal with specialisation. Maori education as a general field is something not covered at all comprehensively by Wikipedia. The article on Russell Bishop, one of the leading researchers,is a mere stub and there is no article on Te Kotahitanga his main area of research over the last ten years which is now being rolled out as teacher professioanl education over the whole country. One of the things users can expect of an encyclopeida is relaible "first call" information on specialty topics. This is something Wikipedia does well in the sciences (some of the maths articles are awesome) but less well in the Arts. Tonygandal (talk) 21:15, 27 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Three To Power

Hello Tx, thank you for reviewing my article. First time editor/poster/everything here at Wikipedia, I really appreciate the site and your patience especially. The reason for the decline was that the article lacks citation. I will try to research Wiki standards and get the article updated tomorrow. Hope you're enjoying the Olympic ceremonies. Tx, I have updated the article with three citations and a reflist section. Honestly, I have no issue with citing sources, but seeing as this is a article meant to provide a background and history of one of my own projects, I'm not sure where else citation is needed. Obviously I'm trying to keep it as objective as possible, again, basically the intention is just to provide a history of the project. If you have any advise on the construction or the content of the article please feel free to let loose on me! Dear Crossbow, it has been a long time since my writing has been checked by an other! So I am a bit rusty on following instructions I hope I understood what you wanted me to correct. Just to let you know that it is not ill will but mental thickness on my part and that American is not my first language. Hi Stella, Thanks for the feedback on my recent submission for spotflux. The comment given was that it contained insufficient context. I've expounded on the services provided, as well as added a few interlinks/connections to other Wikipedia articles. Review for BLP about Joey Avino

Hello, Stella.

Wanted to say thank you very much for getting to my newly created page so quickly (http://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Joey_Avino&diff=next&oldid=504962637). This is my first attempt at writing for Wikipedia, and as a 15-year freelance writer, it's a switch to go from all original reporting to no original reporting! I'm hoping my citations are correct. Please feel free to tell me how to improve as I'm hoping to submit more and more content to Wikipedia. Want to make sure I'm doing it right!

Question: When you make changes to something I've written, must I do anything to make sure you know I've seen them or approve of them? Or is it that once you make a change, it's there for good? I'm sorry for newbie questions. If you want to direct me elsewhere, please do.

I'm waiting on permissions to use a photograph from a website. When I get the copyright info straightened out I'll upload the file.

Many thanks in advance for all of your efforts...for all of us.

Hello,

I noticed the Article submission for Andrew Caster (doctor) was declined due to a lack of reliable sources. I understand the PDF link given does not contain his name, so I will remove that. Submission Declined: Joseph Vincent

Hi Stella! First, thanks for reviewing my article on Joseph Vincent at Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Joseph_Vincent . I just had a few questions in regards to your declining it. For notability, Joseph Vincent has featured on NBC's "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" twice in 2010. Wouldn't that satisfy #12 on criteria for musicians ensembles of "Has been a featured subject of a substantial broadcast segment across a national radio or TV network?" Hello Txcrossbow! Thanks for reviewing my Wiki article. I'm a Wiki Rookie so please excuse my errors. Can you suggest what needs correcting to gain approval? Having a Wiki acticle that provides my correct bio information is very important to my music career.

When music fans seach web based music sharing sites like Iheart radio, the artist info available on that site is obtained via Wiki. In my case, when a fan searchs for (country artist) Mike Short Jr or Michael Short Jr, the bio information for Rap artist: Too Short appears. You can see my problem. lol

Thanks so much for your time and contributions to Wiki. If you would like to contact me either or Wiki or fb, I'll gladly provide you with some cd's and swag.

Sleep and Dream Context added to Daniel Joseph Nadler article

Hi Stella, thanks, I have been working to improve the Daniel Joseph Nadler article by adding the sleep and dream context, as you suggested, and I have pasted a draft of the new context on my talk page, with the new context added in bold. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Toni_Mendez

I took your comments about notability in account and tweaked it with Rall's comments and the added commendations in the awards section to show she was a significant figure. When I resubmitted Phantomwiki declared it wasn't suitable with a link that was uninformative. I posted on Phantomwiki talk page "I disagree with the uninformative claim it doesn't deserve to be a Wikipedia entry. And the linked article is of no assistance. Who can I appeal this ruling to?" And all Phantomwiki responded was to post on my user page (not even my talk page) "If others vote for your article to be accepted, it will be. Best wishes." Could you re-examine the article? Ms. Mendez is as significant a pioneer in re media tie-ins and merchandising as Stephen Slesinger, who does have an entry. Thank you for your kind consideration. I´m writing this article about Caligola: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Caligola_(group) and I have a few questions and explanations: Kurier, Weser Kurier and Finaznachrichten are well-respected newspapers in Austria and Germany; monsterandcritics, laut.de, Fanlexikon and Moore To Be are very well-known online services/magazines. The group Caligola is very popular in central and northern Europe as many of the participating artists. The article is a translation of the published german article. I cannot give you any secondary sources becasue there are none existing yet except the german wikipedia article if you accept it as source, because the music project has been started very recently. All of the participating aritst are famous or known around here in Germany, Austria, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway etc.and are highly respected musicians and artists. Becasue I don´t know what exactly you need to have as source, I´ve begun putting them in and deleting them again, I´m very sorry for that and for sending it in three times (sorry I´m a newbie ;-)) I canoffer itunes, maybe find other newspaper articles from Sweden or Germany. concert reviews if you want to have them. And about the writing style - I have no idea of how to change it any further. All in all I´m a bit stuck, sorry!Andrea Schweinberger (talk) 21:00, 3 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It's ok if the references are in German. I don't speak German, but there are others who do and we will find one to check the piece for you. Cheers! Stella BATPHONEGROOVES 22:37, 3 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your comments on my draft article. I have now added references and links. I hope this now meets the Wikipedia standards. --Ashkelon5059 (talk) 12:06, 4 August 2012 (UTC) http://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Basil_Webb&pe=1&[reply]

Help!

To what and where do I need to cite references. I have the links posted in the ==References== section. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Blis Nemesis (talkcontribs) 02:42, 6 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

See KLC for an example of how to add references and how to cite them inline properly. Cheers! Stella BATPHONEGROOVES 02:45, 6 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I NEED HELP!

Hi Txcrossbow:

I have seen your critiques, and have recently added secondary sources to the article "J The S (Jake The Snake)", and saved it recently last week. However, I have not seen that the saved changes have been sent to you, and wanted to know if you have received the new edits. If so, I wanted to know if they are substantial enough to make it to Wikipedia. Thank you so much for your help. I look forward to hearing from you.

The link is Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/J the S (Jake the Snake). All you need to do is add {{subst:submit}} to the top of the article. Ryan Vesey 01:40, 7 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sorting out declined article

Hi Txcrossbow,

I submitted the following article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Occupy_OC#Occupy_Orange_County.2C_California

I previously submitted an article titled Occupy Orange County, but the formatting got all screwy so I tried to cancel that one. The text was supposed to be the same, but the article linked to above represents the intended text.

I can't figure out why it was declined (my first time creating an article, although I've contributed successfully in small ways to others).

The sources listed are almost all mainstream media, albeit some in the form of blogs. The writers of the blogs are regular reporting staff for the papers, and as such are held to the same standards. (I personally asked one of them about this.)

Please let me know how to get the article going,

Thanks in advance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.95.148.27 (talk) 04:41, 7 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

In a nutshell, what do you want to do with these submissions... putting aside any reference issues as this can be resolved easily? Cheers! Stella BATPHONEGROOVES 14:44, 7 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

We have thoroughly discussed adding to wikipedia in the zenphoto forums: http://www.zenphoto.org/support/topic.php?id=10832&page=3

We have no other sources that are more reliable than the project webpage. In fact, there is nothing more reliable than the source code itself (which I made sure to link to in the introduction). If this isn't good enough, we've hit a brick wall, despite some other similar projects having even worse/nonexistent references: PhpGraphy, Piwigo, Plogger, Phoca Gallery. I do not believe Zenphoto, or any of the other articles I mentioned, deserve to be pulled off wikipedia since they are all open source projects with references to their source code.

All other mentions of "Zenphoto" on the internet are listed under External Links, but they are all second-hand to the source (www.zenphoto.org).

The submission needs more references. Do a search online or add library resources. Considering this article is about a god, there must be other sources you could reference? Cheers! Stella BATPHONEGROOVES 21:19, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Help moving article

Good day. I have been reviewing articles for creation and just finished reviewing and editing an article entitled "Chagos Marine Protected Area". When I try to accept and move he article I get an error message indicating the article already exists. However, when I search for an article with that name in Wikipedia, there isn't one. I would be grateful for your help. Thanks so much. Snowysusan 08:33, 8 August 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Snowysusan (talkcontribs)

There is a page, but it is a re-direct to Chagos Archipelago... Request the re-direct page to be deleted, then you can move the page. Cheers! Stella BATPHONEGROOVES 21:24, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Minority (Gigi Gryce song)

Thank you for taking the time to review my article submission. I have cleaned it up, found better sources, and cited them better. I had trouble finding much prose written about this song, yet it is clearly an important Jazz tune. I've been wondering why that might be and came up with this thought:

Jazz improvisers are highly skilled in a non-verbal art form that takes years (some would say a lifetime) to master. Most of the greats are also great sight-readers and composers, but most are not known for their academic prose (just open to any page of the Miles Davis autobiography to see what I mean). The fact that so many great musicians have covered this tune makes it an important part of music history. It would be hard to consider an improvisational cover of a song as anything other than the artist's personal statement on that composition. The fact that they keep the name of the original song they are covering is a form of citation. This seems to mirror the way we make citations for Wikipedia articles.

Why doesn't referencing improvisational covers of a song by great improvisers of the ages count as a citation for a Wikipedia article? They are statements from authorities on the subject. They just aren't prose.
