Grachi is a Nickelodeon Latin America fantasy television series written by Catharina Ledeboer and Mariana Palos that focuses on the life and love experiences of Graciela "Grachi" Alonso, a teenage witch. It premiered in Latin America on May 2, 2011. The series stars Isabella Castillo as Grachi, Andrés Mercado as Daniel and Kimberly Dos Ramos as Matilda; also featuring Mauricio Henao, Sol Rodríguez and Lance Dos Ramos in supporting roles.
In June 2011 it was confirmed that the series was renewed for a second season, which began airing on February 27, 2012. The second season features a rouge teen witch named Mia, portrayed by Maria Gabriela de Faria and a new rival for Daniel, Leo, portrayed by Willy Martin both of which worked together earlier in the Nickelodeon Latin America productions Isa TKM and Isa TK+.
The series has been dubbed to English and is currently being aired through Nickelodeon Philippines since January 2012.
Summary
The series center on Grachi (Isabella Castillo), a witch and a new student in Escolarium. She deals with using her magic and trying to find out how to defeat the Principal (a witch who tries to steal the powers of Grachi and Matilda so she can be the most powerful witch). Grachi also deals with her rival, Matilda (Kimberly Dos Ramos) with whom she fights with for the love of Daniel (Andrés Mercado).
Background
The show was produced by Nickelodeon Latin America and written by Venezuela author Mariela Romero, who also created the teen novela Isa TKM. Tatiana Rodriguez commented that:
This project demonstrates our continued commitment to the region and local talent. We are excited to bring a little bit of magic for Latin American fans and we're confident that Grachi will provide many hours of fascinating humor, romance and fun for all our audience
The program uses advanced production technology and 3D effects under the management of production house Aisha Enterprises, Inc. The executive producers are Solange Rivero and Yuldor Gutierrez. Winner of the Kids Choice Awards ("The Best TV Series of 2010) create by Nickelodeon Latin America Network, part of MTV Networks/Viacom Satellite Broadcasting).
The series will be renewed for a second season, set to air in January 2012. The Grachi cast will also embark on a tour of Latin America.
Grachi returns in 2013 for a third season. Kimberly Dos Ramos and Lance Dos Ramos will not be in this third season.
Main cast
- Isabella Castillo as Graciela "Grachi" Alonso - a new 16 year old student at Escolarium. She is a very powerful witch. She moved to a new neighborhood with her father Francisco, who was hired to be the new math professor at Escolarium. Grachi's mother died when she was younger. Mecha becomes her best friend, and Matilda her enemy only in season 1. Grachi is in love with Daniel and she is the protagonist.
- Andrés Mercado as Daniel Esquivel - leader/captain of the swimming team "Los Tiburones" at Escolarium. He is Chema's cousin and best friend. Daniel's parents are Cristina and Ricardo. He has three siblings: Melanie, Luis and Roberto. He is in love with Grachi.
- Kimberly Dos Ramos as Matilda Román - was the most popular girl at Escolarium before Grachi's arrival. She is also a witch, but uses her powers to do bad. She is the leader of the "Panteras Rojas" (Red Panthers), a group of girls who dance and respond to all of Matilda's manipulations. Matilda is Daniel's ex-girlfriend, and she is determined to win his love back and destroy Grachi and the main antagonist. She is now dating Diego and in season 2 she and Grachi became friends.
- Mauricio Hénao as Antonio "Tony" Gordillo - a highly intelligent and nerdy boy who falls in love with Grachi, but his affections are not reciprocated. He joins the swimming team "Los Tiburones". Tony wins a scholarship to study at a better school and leaves Escolarium in search of new opportunities. He returns in Season 2, telling Grachi he didn't really go to his school and everything was fake.
- Sol Rodríguez as Mercedes "Mecha" Estevez - Grachi's best friend, daughter of Lolo. She hates Matilda, but is stuck living in the same house as her because Lolo works for Ursula, Matilda's mother. Mecha is in love with Chema. She is Grachi's guardian.
- Lance Dos Ramos as José Manuel "Chema" Esquivel - Daniel's cousin and best friend, part of the team "Los Tiburones". Chema's parents are artists who tour most of the time, so Chema lives with his uncle Ricardo and aunt Cristina and his four cousins. He is in love with Mecha.
- Maria Gabriela as Mía Novoa - the new witch at Escolarium and Grachi's enemy. She falls in love with Daniel right away but her love is not reciprocated (in season 2).
- Willy Martin as Leonardo "Leo" Martinez - an intelligent and creative guy who uses science to create his own magic. He has a crush on Grachi and hates Daniel. (in season 2)
- Laura Chimaras as Andrea Román - Will appear in season 3, Matilda is the premium therefore Grachi premium, which moves to Enchanted City by the failure of the family business. It is a very novice witch, so give Grachi kinds of magic. (in season 3).
- Danilo Carrera as Axel Velez - Will appear in the 3rd season, was a childhood friend of Grachi, who always told her that she was special (in season 3)

- Isabella Castillo as Gracia - She is a very powerful witch like her descendant Grachi. Minerva was her best friend but they turned to enemies because they both fell in love with a pirate named Danilo. She also knows about the famous "Padlock Spell" and the real owner of the Exoren. Gracia is in love with Danilo.
- Andrés Mercado as Danilo - He is a pirate captain. He is in love with Gracia. It is possible that Daniel is his descendant.
- Kimberly Dos Ramos as Minerva - She is also a witch, but uses her powers to do bad like her descendant Matilda. Minerva is Danilo's ex-girlfriend, and she is determined to win his love back and destroy Gracia like Matilda wants to destroy Grachi.
TV Special
Wonderfully Magical Story
Wonderfully Magical Story is the first special of the series, which premiered on May 2, 2011, before the release of the series. This special was a presentation of the characters and the content of the series.
Unpublished episode
This is a TV special containing some deleted scenes. It will be released on August 19, 2011. Principally, the episode focuses on the character Churi Kanaya, Diego, and his powers such as freezing and ignition.
Quiero Mis 16
It will be a fictional story, made by a fictional TV show called "Quiero Mis 16". The release is scheduled for August 25, 2011. This special tells the story of the 16th birthday of the character of Matilda, and will feature scenes from final episode.
Music
The soundtrack of the series was released in Latin America on June 7, 2011. The album includes 15 songs used in the series. The simple theme of the series was released on June 7, 2011, with its accompanying video, by Nickelodeon Latin America. The second single from the album, Hechizo de Amor, was released on May 6, 2011, performed by the band Ádammo. In Philippines exists Grachi by Isabella Castillo in English version.
