In February 2012, Shueisha announced that the Naruto spin-off manga created by Kenji Taira, Rock Lee no Seishun Full-Power Ninden would receive an anime adaptation.[1] Produced by Studio Pierrot and directed by Masahiko Murata, the series premiered in TV Tokyo on April 3, 2012.[2] Crunchyroll simulcasted the series' premiere in their website and will also stream its following episodes.[3]

The series chronicles the daily life and training of Konohagakure ninja Rock Lee, who cannot utilize ninjutsu but excels in taijutsu or hand-to-hand combat. It features comical scenes and mini-skits to emphasize its characters' ambitions and ideas. This is the first anime series that has no relevance on the main plot of the Naruto Shippuuden series and retains its original voice actors.

The series is being released to Region 2 DVD in Japan with three episodes per disc. The first DVD will be released on July 18,2012, containing episodes 1-3.[4]

The series contains three musical themes. The opening is "Give Lee Give Lee Rock Lee" by Animetal USA and Hironobu Kageyama. The first ending theme is "Twinkle Twinkle" by South Korean girl group Secret, which is used for episodes 1 to 13, whilst "Go! Go! Here We Go!" by Shiritsu Ebisu Chugaku, which is used from episodes 14+.
