User talk:Wesley Wolf
Sadly I have not been able to edit as actively as I would have liked to, due to a busier real-life schedule. Fulltime employment as a Keyworker for a British supermarket chain, has meant it difficult to find spare time to edit and maintain articles during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. However, I have not gone into retirement just yet. I have granted Alucard 16 permission to be a guardian of my talk page during my indefinite periods of absence. |

Hi, I have decided to let this one go and re-join the Eurovision project again. I have decided to look at it positive with these two AfDs resulting in merge as the information is still saved at the National articles. On the other hand I am still not in favour of the way these discussions was handled at all, and I will always consider them basic blackmail trough threats in my opinion a "black day" in Wikipedia democracy. I have also made it pretty clear of this standpoint to Bleubeatle at his talk page, hopefully he/she can prove me wrong of my opinion conerning the user. And I hope this does not result in a upcoming Mass-AfD or Mass-Merge without discussions scenario. But back to the positive, I am back and it is your birthday! Congratulations again!--BabbaQ (talk) 17:36, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
- Now that is the best birthday present ever! Welcome back BabbaQ. Wesley Mouse 17:53, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
- Take a look at this, I find user Ericas latest changes to the Paris Hilton article to be something that could perhaps work in a edition of The Sun newspaper but not at Wikipedia. The user showed some improvements earlier on in her editing style, but has unfortunatly returned to her gossip magazine ways. I dont know what to do really.--BabbaQ (talk) 20:09, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
- And thank you! It feels like the right decision to return.--BabbaQ (talk) 20:10, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
- I just want to give you a notice that user Bleubeatle has done some selective deletions of yours and my posts to his talk page and left some parts. Just to give you the notice so you can choose to either remove your comment completely or whatever. I choosed to remove mine as the user deleted some critical parts but left only fluff left. A clear distortion to only have the more positive comments left and the user has been sufficiently warned about it already.[1]--BabbaQ (talk) 16:52, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
- I believe that the statements that you claim to be critical points were taken out of context. I reserve the right to remove such statements from my own talk page but I don't think that removing an entire comment is a good idea as this may offend some users. Also I believe that the diff that you provided was only an advice. Not a clear warning as you claim it to look like. Your interests in looking through my talk page history is bothering so I removed your recent post. But anyways I will be re-instating the unedited version(s) of your posts for archive purposes. If that is what you want. Bleubeatle (talk) 22:02, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
- The irony here is that by selectively deleting fragments of comments by others, you were removing context, not adding it. As I've already explained to you, the right to remove content from talk pages does not override the requirement in policy to not misrepresent what others have said on your talk page, so I'm glad you have restored the remarks in full. I can understand your reluctance to delete entire threads, although you were happy to delete the one that I placed there, and in practice people tend to be very sensitive to others altering their remarks, so selectively deleting parts of comments is likely to cause more offence to users than simply deleting the entire conversation - however archiving is always preferred. Gettting Wikimedians to the Olympic Games
Hi. I am part of an effort to get Wikimedians access to the 2016 Summer Olympics as accredited reporters and photographers. Part of this effort includes covering the 2012 Summer Paralympics. Two Wikimedians have credentials to attend these games as reporters through Wikimedia Australia. As English Wikipedia does not allow original reporting, this is largely through Wikinews with a project page found at Wikinews:Paralympic Games. If you are interested in helping to get Wikimedians to the next Summer Olympics,I'd encourage you to assist with Wikinews efforts, and also to work on all language 2012 Summer Paralympic Wikipedia articles before, during and after the Games to demonstrate a track record of success. Thank you. --LauraHale (talk) 04:05, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
- Hello, I'm slightly confused with what you are asking of me here. I am a volunteer at the Paralympics, so won't have the time to be able to assist you with your quest. Also wouldn't it be a conflict of interest too, especially when I am privy to inside information during the games. Wesley Mouse 04:08, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

- Hi, I'm not 100% sure what has happened here. The image originally uploaded was File:ABU Radio Song Festival 2012 logo.jpg, and licensed correctly. But upon inspection, another user has uploaded File:ABU Song Festivals 2012.png which is basically the same logo but without the colour background. All the sources state the colour background is the official logo. There is a source attached to the licensing of the black and white version - yet when I click on the link it takes me to the purple background version. Would it be possible for someone to clarify which version should be used? Thank you. Wesley Mouse 04:05, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
- Looking at the page source [2] it seems that the File:ABU Song Festivals 2012.png is being placed on top of the purple background, giving the File:ABU Radio Song Festival 2012 logo.jpg with the purple background. I'm of two minds on this: On one hand, the parent corporation logo [3] is usually not done in anything than blue/black & white; on the other hand, it seems like the purple motif [4] & [5] is sort of the theme/colour for the current year. I think that either would be appropriate - perhaps asking the uploader of the other image & taking it to the talk page of the article will get a bit more input on the question. Skier Dude (talk) 04:22, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
- Some interesting points there, thank you for taking the time to share them. The parent logo does appear to follow a blue/black & white theme. And yes, I can see now that the current black & white version would be embossed (if that is the right word) onto the purple background, thus giving it a theme for the current year. On that basis, I don't suppose it would matter having the themed version unless we incorporated that into the article to describe the theme art and kept the black & white version within the article's infobox. The Swedish music producer..
- Comment - WP:DIACRITICS states the use of modified letters (such as accents or other diacritics) in article titles is neither encouraged nor discouraged. However it does mention about placing redirects at alternative titles, such as those with or without diacritics. The redirecting alternative would gain an overwhelming support from me. - Hi, WesleyMouse, I caught your comment which P.T. Aufrette already answered. Additionally, you may or may not know this - I'm guessing not - just a brief note that that section you mention, WP:DIACRITICS, has been repeatedly edit warred by a small number of editors opposed to the fact that en.wp's European BLPs are in fact all spelled with diacritics. If you go back in the history you will find earlier versions by Polish admin Prokonsul Piotrus and Finnish admin Prolog which have been edited out. For that reason the section should really have a "under stalled discussion" or "draggingly slow edit war" tag on it. But the reality is out there in en.wp 100,000s of BLPs whatever editors have done to what that guideline says. In ictu oculi (talk) 01:59, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
- Such a shame that people edit war even on pages that are designed to be help tools and/or guidance pages for users. What possesses people to do such a disgraceful act? I think all pages that are intended to be help tools should be fully protected. Wesley Mouse 07:57, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

Eurovision work
Hey man. I haven't been much help to you with the reformat of the Eurovision articles unfortunately. I've had a lot of things to do IRL as well as other tasks on here. Hopefully I'll be able to do a little more work on it soon, I hope that it's OK. --Reckless182 (talk) 09:13, 21 August 2012 (UTC)

Wes. This came up years ago, when several of us fixed the JIDF wiki page and got hounded, and it was sorted out more or less, after some imbroglios involving attempts to manipulate Mr Wales, on some board or another. To make another complaint would only, as they used to say, 'feed the beast'. Cheers.Nishidani (talk) 16:14, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
- Oh, OK. I've made WP:AN aware anyway, some didn't know about it, while others are saying its old and not to worry too much about it. Wesley Mouse 16:16, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
- Just to say, it's a nice feeling to know that someone keeps a general eye on things, and likes to take care of other wikipedians. I appreciate your spirit. It's just that the I/P area's a tricky one, with a long and intricate history . one good thing it teaches wikipedians, if they aren't humanly pissed off by the nonsense there, is that one can help out by not being sucked into its controversial side, but just watching the flow on a few pages and perhaps commenting in the best neutral spirit of the encyclopedia. Whenever one sees provocation (this case wasn't an instance, talnic was in good faith) one just kills one's instincts to reply, and waits for it to die a natural death, which it does in most cases. Cheers, Wes. Nishidani (talk) 16:57, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
