JJ Books

JJ Books is an independent publisher based in the UK, founded by author, businessman and campaigner John Jackson (businessman)¦John Jackson in 2011. The company focuses on publishing illustrated books in collectible hardback and digital editions. [1] [2]

Philosophy

Jackson has written that he sees digital publishing as an opportunity to bring illustrative art to a wider audience, and to circumvent the traditional gatekeeping role of the publisher.

Books

A Little Piece of England

JJ Books’ first book A Little Piece of England – a Tale of Self-Sufficiency, written by John Jackson and illustrated by Val Biro, was published in 2011. The book was originally published in 1979 as A Bucket of Nuts and a Herring Net by Collins and Harvill Press.

Tales for Great Grandchildren

JJ Books’ second book, Tales for Great Grandchildren, is a collection of stories from the folklore of India and Nepal, written by John Jackson and illustrated by Daniela Jaglenka Terrazzini.

The hardback edition of Tales for Great Grandchildren was published in October 2011, followed by the launch of an iPad app in February 2012. In April 2012, the Daily Telegraph newspaper picked the Tales for Great Grandchildren iPad app as one of the ‘Ten best iOS and Android children’s apps for Easter’.

Brahma Dreaming

In 2012, JJ Books announced the publication of a third book – a collection of stories from Hindu mythology. The book will be written by John Jackson and illustrated by Daniela Jaglenka Terrazzini, and will be published in both hardback and digital editions.
