Review of Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Garrett Celek
I submitted this page for a week now. I just found out somebody just made the same page I already submitted with the same name. What do I do with this page? 173.78.231.251 (talk) 01:19, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
- You can just leave it as-is; it will be declined as a duplicate of an existing article which you can improve instead. I believe the draft's level of detail was excessive anyway; I just had a look at some other random football player articles, and none of those I checked provided such trivia as the receiving yards the player scored in a given year. At the very most, a single table would suffice for that information. Besides, until he has actually played for the 49ers, he may be non-notable ber WP:NGRIDIRON. I don't think there's enough coverage to let him pass the general notability guideline. Huon (talk) 02:55, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
how to get first article published
I have written an article, that has been declined, but can't get a response from the reviewer about next steps. Also, when I press "save" or "preview" in the editing page and in the sandbox, only the opening sentence appears, not the rest of the article. It appears that the entire article is not showing up, but I don't know why.
Article draft is Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/John Emmaeus Davis
E.C. Byers (talk) 17:30, 2 September 2012 (UTC)Lisa Byers
- The draft was declined because it didn't yet have any content when the reviewer looked at it. That has been fixed, and it's now re-submitted for a more substantial review. Judging by the timing of your contributions, you also by now the "only the opening sentence" problem.
- There are some issues with the references you might want to resolve before a reviewer takes a look. For biographies of living persons our rules about citations are especially strict, and you should clarify which of the references you give supports which of the article's statements. For example, which source says Davis "has advanced the understanding, prevalence and viability of community land trusts in the United States"? The easiest way to clarify that is via footnotes; see also WP:Referencing for beginners.
- It also wouldn't help to be a little more specific. One of the references is Stephen Rees' blog, which probably isn't a reliable source anyway because there's no editorial oversight, but which blog posts are relevant to Davis? When were they published? Can you provide direct links to the relevant posts? Another reference, Yes They Can. And They Bloody Well Did, was written by Davis himself; it's a primary source. It also doesn't seem to tell us anything about Davis and should be removed for that reason alone. The link to EthicalMarkets.com is broken, the author's name is probably wrong (it should be Hazel Henderson, not Rachel), and I couldn't find the review on that website. "Temple Press titles" should also be a little more explicit, and if those are Davis' own titles, they are once again primary sources. Huon (talk) 18:30, 2 September 2012 (UTC)

- Because there were no reliable sources. Furthermore your article gives so little context that it is hard to tell what it's about. It's a village, and I'd guess it's somewhere in India, but where? What's its population? Is the village really mentioned by name in the Ramayana, or what's that epic's relevance to the village? Are there secondary sources for the connection between the village and the Ramayana? Huon (talk) 18:43, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
(...copy-pasta of text of submission at Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/VJ Urwa removed...)
- I'm not sure what you were trying to ask (as you'd merely pasted your entire article here instead of just linking to the proposed article page, asking a question and signing with ~~~~) but I did spot a few issues which you need to correct. At one short paragraph, your submission may be a bit short to be a complete encyclopaedia article, the and not (as the latter tag means something different) and the text needs to be copyedited to bring the quality of English language text up to a native level. I've fixed the <ref> tags but am not familiar enough with the subject or its claim to notability to tackle the rest. Not sure if that helps, by all means feel free to pose a question here if this isn't what you needed. 66.102.83.61 (talk) 23:55, 2 September 2012 (UTC)

John Zed King/artist
This famous southern artist had many drawings, paintings and sketches sold throughout the south. His paintings and values are hard to find and even his history is somewhat of a mistery as to whether he is still alive. I bought several originals at a mall sale in the late 1980's and at one time had many of his calendars and pictures. No mention of this artist on wikipedia and he represented the true history of the signs, barns, buildings, gas stations, etc of the past. A history of this man and his paintings would be of great interest to many. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.179.68.206 (talk) 03:02, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
- Do you intend to dig up reliable sources (such as books, magazines or news coverage about the subject) and write an article on this topic? If so, you're in the right place. If not, but you would like to request an article, this would likely fit Wikipedia:Requested articles/Arts and entertainment/Visual arts if you wish to make the request there. I am slightly confused about the comment - about the journal, rather than from as I have included the Press release. I have compared this to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_Biology (a different journal - similar name) and they have included similar to Biology Open. Our journal in now in a new abstracting and indexing service, so I would like to include this also.

- Unfortunately, other articles on Wikipedia may not be necessarily be in good quality (see WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS), so we can't judge a new article based on others (except if, say they are good articles or better). In the case of your references, they are all primary sources except for the press release. Unfortunately, to establish notability, we need multiple, independent, reliable sources - and press releases, while they may well be from reliable sources, generally aren't considered independent for this. Hope that helps. --Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 10:32, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
Review of User:Prajnana/sandbox
Hi, there.
Thanks in advance for your time. Question: There is an existing UNPUBLISHED article with the same title as mine. It has been in the User's 'sandbox' for a very long time, possibly more than a year. I don't think the user is awaiting publication but I cannot know that for certain.
How can I learn whether this will be a problem? The article title is Wikipedia talk: Articles for creation/Patrizia Norelli-Bachelet. I was unable to move the article to the page suggested as it said my account was too new.
Thank you. --Prajnana (talk) 12:29, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
- What's the sandbox copy, User:Mallarme/Patrizia Norelli-Bachelet? That seems to be a copy of an article that has sice been deleted; I don't think it's awaitig publication (it's unchanged for more than five years).
- Anyway, I'd ignore the other draft; the worst that could happen would be that you both aim for publication, one draft is published first, and we have to merge them. That's not a problem.
- There are, however, some other issues with your draft that should be fixed. It relies heavily on primary sources such as Norelli-Bachelet's own books or the Aeon Group. Other parts, such as her early life, are entirely unsourced. Wikipedia content should be based on reliable sources that are independent of the subject.
- I'd also get rid of the "quotes" section. I do't see why those specific quotes, out of all Norelli-Bachelet's works, were chosen; if they are not commonly reproduced or discussed in secondary sources, there's no reason to discuss them here, and if they are, we should report on that discussion, not just reproduce the quote. Resubmission of new article for creation Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/David Rolt
On August 30th I submitted a new article about the artist David Rolt. Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/David Rolt Unfortunately, doubtless due to inexperience or finger trouble on my part, I somehow managed to submit it as a blank document - and duly received a message that it had been rejected for this reason. So on August 31st I returned to the article, re-inserted the text and images and saved the changes. I also added copyright tags on the images that I had uploaded.
So is there anything else I need to do? I am now able to see the article in my watchlist, but I'd just like to be sure that the article isn't continuing to languish somwwhere among the rejected.
Many thanks,
Roberte207 (Roberte207 (talk) 14:38, 3 September 2012 (UTC))
- Your article didn't have a review template on it. I have now added this. For future reference, you can do this yourself by adding to the article. However, I can't pass the article, as the references are either primary sources, only give a brief mention to the article's subject, or don't mention him at all. Sorry about that. --Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 14:46, 3 September 2012 (UTC)

how to create and mantain a private project for a movie studio?
hi, i would like to know how to create a multi colaboration project where our supervisors can submit articles related to our internal workflow and document them.
thanks

- I strongly suspect this violates WP:NOT: Wikipedia is not a free webhost, and I doubt there are reliable independent sources for your internal workflow. We're trying to build an encyclopedia here, and I don't think your private project would help.
- The MediaWiki software is free software; you can download it and set up a wiki of your own. Huon (talk) 21:12, 3 September 2012 (UTC)

I just wanted to add a name to your "Miniature Artists" as Edward Ter-Ghazarian or Edward Kazarian -who is the inventor of Miniature art, is not included in your list of "Miniature Artists"! How can I do this?

- Facebook is usually not a reliable source on which to build an article as it is user-supplied content. Anyone can write anything there. It's also poor form to rely on sources you authored yourself or engage in advertising or self-promotion of anything in which you have a potential conflict of interest. 66.102.83.61 (talk) 03:57, 4 September 2012 (UTC)

I do not understand why this article submission was declined.Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/William E. Ingram, Jr. The sources that are used are official government sources. There are many articles about General Officers just like this one, citing almost identical official government sources.

Qick question:
I am trying to edit a page on Justin Matthew, who is one of the emerging movers and shakers regarding changes in Internet entertainment.
there have been edits done that removed a large part of the article, but also added additional references, which are probably not all 'good'.
then the page was reviewed, the major changes, including taking down the picture in the infobox, seem to have been done before the review.
Is it possible to protect a page through the review process from edits other than author and reviewer, so I can get it right once, then leave it to the dogs to shred.... ;-) ?
the changes had not been commented on the talk page at all either.
... I did also get no notification by the reviewer at all, does the system not do that automatically?

- The submisison was created by User:Jmhhacker who was duly notified on User talk:Jmhhacker of the review. Are you the same person as User:Jmhhacker?
- The only edit made since your last edit to the draft was purely technical, changing the display size of the picture, and adjusting the AFC template. This was by User:Dcshank who I believe is a frequent AfC reviewer. Prior to that was a series of 8 edits by you, and prior to that was the reviewer declining the draft as it then stood. Prior to the review there were 5 edits. All of them were minor formatting changes, none of them "removed a large part of the article" -- in fact I don't see any edit which removed a single word of text. here is the initial draft, here is the version just before the review, and here is the version curent as I write. Check them out and i don't think you will find any significant changes in wording, much less "edits done that removed a large part of the article". If you had another draft or additional text, it was never saved to be part of this draft. I have looked through every version in the history.
- All that said, it is common for AfC volunteers or other editors to edit drafts waiting at AfC, with the intent of improving them, fixing formatting issues that new editors will not know about, helping articles conform to wikipedia policies and standards, and even adding information they find through their own search for sources. This is perfectly normal. Once you post something to wikipedia, even a draft article, you are giving anyone and everyone permission to edit it in any way that seems good to them, provided that edits are made with the good-faith intent of improving the article or the project ad a whole. If there is a specific edit or group of edits you object to, describe it/them in as much detail here as you can, or better yet link to a diff that shows the changes you object to. (See Wikipedia:Simple diff and link guide for more on how to link to a diff.)
- It is not possible to limit editing to you and a single reviewer, and it is against the normal process to limit editing at all. If there is a high amount of vandalism or edit warring there are protective measures that could be taken, but I do not see even one vandal edit here, nor any edit warring.
- As to the article itself, it is currently "written like an advertisement" and if it were moved to the main article space in its current form, it would be deleted promptly. Phrases like " the transformation of YouTube from a mere jokes and funny videos collection into a player in the audiovisual entertainment world." "achieved high award levels within the industry (top producer, Million dollar producer)." "consults struggling companies to regain profitability" and others are pure marketing-PR-speak, and have no place in a wikipedia article. The article need a total rewrite to be acceptable. I haven't reviewed the sources to check on notability, but even assuming there is no problem there, the tone and style must be changed.
- Oh as to the picture, I looked at the commons page where it has been uploaded. The source info listed there is incomplete, and is inconsistent with the claimed license. I have placed a tag noting these facts, and unless the uploader or someone else fixes these problems, the picture will be deleted from commons after a few days.
- I hope this is helpful. If you have further questions or comments feel free to make them here or to post to my talk page. Happy editing. DES (talk) 00:48, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
I did find it, the page had been moved into the sandbox of a jmhhacker account on the 28th and from there back into AfC. Since then there had been two versions: one that had passed through the jmhhacker sandbox and was edited there, and the one that I had posted. Somehow they merged.
No, I am not jmhhacker, that's Justin Matthew's twitter name. Looking at the photo which was not one I have at all, the origin of this account may have been his brother. I won't bother.
Now this response of yours looks much better than the totally out of line one that goes to wikequette assistance. And thanks for the update with the picture, I did get no notification there either... will check into that. The pictures are checked with Justin Matthew, he emailed that he owns them and that I may use them. They are all over the net anyways. I won't do anything with it until I find out what happened there, you might have ways to find out about that jmhhacker account that was there for a short time at least. Why don't you delete all versions of the page that are in the system, I have my original as a subpage of my user page and can rewrite and re-submit later.

- Wikipedia is not a place to advertise your product or company. If you own the patent, your editing or creating an article promoting the product is a huge potential conflict of interest. That said, the images you propose are likely not suitable as files for upload as Wikipedia only accepts uploads which are free of any copyright or under certain specific, very unrestrictive free licenses (such as CC-BY or CC-BY-SA). The use of these materials is also not a substitute for relying on neutral and reliable sources as they are self-published by someone with a product to sell. K7L (talk) 15:45, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
I am not trying to promote as I have a site and marketing etc, I wanted this entry as a new tool something never done before hence the patent isn't this a real encyclopedia that is a reference for knowledge you have person of public interest, other patents which all fall into promoting. I gave you the web address for your use not to be included in listing the directions in entry are from the patent papers, not marketing material. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dragon25121972 (talk • contribs) 17:53, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
Editor's comment in Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Zhaga Consortium says he wants 'non-specialist' news coverage to establish notability. I'm unclear how general the sources must be, I've included links to magazines for lighting professionals by an independent business publisher. Would an electronics trade publication (e.g EE Times) still be considered too specialized? --Burt Harris 16:06, 5 September 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Burt Harris (talk • contribs)
- It looks like there are some sources so the topic is likely a valid one. When attempting to establish notability, over-reliance on press releases is problematic as they are self-published by marketers and manufacturers with no real subsequent editorial controls. New Edited Article
I wrote an article on September 4 that was denied because it had no references. - You added some references, but you need independent references to reliable sources. Facebook pages are almost never reliable sources, and team pages are not independent. It is best if you cite the references inline, so that readers know which source citation supports which fact or facts.
- You need to look seriously at notability and read WP:ORG. it is very unusual that a local sports team will be found to be notable. DES (talk) 21:02, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
Listing a biography
I have been trying for a while to list a biography on Professor Sir Tim Wilson. Each time I list it, I am told I need to make changes so that it complies with Wikipedia's rules and regulations, which is fine. However, I listed (what I hoped was) the final version in mid-August and have received comments as to what further edits I need to make but I do not understand the comments!!!! Can you please help me?

Thank you!!
Professor1949Professor1949 (talk) 09:54, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
- The article was declined because it was unreferenced. Wikipedia works by taking information found in reliable sources, and creating articles out of that information. Therefore, a new article must have references to several reliable sources (such as newspapers, books or magazines) before it can pass.
- The page was blanked because the reviewer felt there were sensitive problems with it being a biography of a living person. Having looked through the blanked content, however, I can't find anything obviously disparaging or contentious with it, and the article seems to just factually mention what he's done without stating any opinion about it. I have unblanked the content so you can carry on working with it. However, I still can't pass the article as it's unsourced, as described above.
- Also, your username gives me the impression that you are Tim Wilson. You should avoid writing articles about yourself, and get somebody else to do them. For example, if (heaven forbid) multiple tabloid and broadsheet papers decide you've had an affair with someone and it goes on their front page, and you subsequently deny it, it can still go in your article even if it's not true. I apologise if this sounds a bit strong, but it can happen. --Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 10:06, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
Biography for Review
I have submitted the draft biography for Sir Tim Wilson for review once more. I submitted the biography for review, but somehow an older version of the draft was reviewed. I should also stress that although my login is Professor1949, that is just my username. My full name is Anne-Marie Bell and I am writing about Professor Wilson because I used to work with him and think that he is a person of note and interest worth listing on Wikipedia.
Professor1949Professor1949 (talk) 10:48, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
- I've had a look at the new version of the draft, and while there are now references, I still can't pass the article, as they're mostly either unreliable sources (Wikipedia articles should never be used to cite other Wikipedia articles) or primary sources (they belong to organisations the article's subject is directly involved in, which are fine for asserting facts, but not suitable to establish notability). The best reference seems to the first one, which is the article in The Guardian here; unfortunately that only briefly mentions Wilson in the first paragraph and nowhere else - indeed the actual subject of the article is a new campus on Hertfordshire University. You need significant coverage in multiple, independent, reliable sources in order for an article to be considered notable and pass a review. --Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 11:15, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
I found that a Thai version on Mathayom Wat Benjamabopit School already exists after creating a draft of the subject in an English version. Please let me know what I should do. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.154.22.34 (talk) 11:05, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
- What to do? If you know the language, go to th:โรงเรียนมัธยมวัดเบญจมบพิตร (Mathayom Wat Benjamabopit School) and steal all of their reliable sources for re-use in your own article when no one is looking? :heh:
- If you translate any text from that article into the English-language Wikipedia, then you will need to acknowledge in your article's edit history that you've "imported translated text from th:โรงเรียนมัธยมวัดเบญจมบพิตร under a Creative Commons (BY-SA) licence". There are a number of non-free images (including the school's logo) in the original page - because they're copyrighted they're not on commons: so to use them you'll need to request they be copied on files for upload and provide a translation of whatever fair use rationale appears on the original image description page.
- Certainly, an article can exist on a topic in more than one language; there is a means to have links to all of the other-language versions appear as "in other languages" at the bottom of the left sidebar once your page is created (it doesn't work on talk pages). To do this, just list them prefixed by the language code - for instance Switzerland contains:
- de:Schweitz
- fr:Suisse
- and at least a couple of others. When editing a page, these interwiki links are usually at or near the bottom of the text. K7L (talk) 13:15, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
- Note that although you may translate text or find references from the Thai-language version, you don't have to. If you find this a problem, and you can find sufficient independent reliable sources on your own, in whatever language, you may write an article from scratch if you so choose. The language links K7L describes above should still be used. DES (talk) 20:42, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
Hello, I am trying to incorporate and adjust a draft I have created that was recently declined. I would like your assessment and guidance on this matter. As I understand the reason for declining the submission it is based on the "golden rule" and my sense is that the lacking elements are the quantity of independent sources to validate the entry. I believe some of those exist in my submission and would like to see if a) you agree and b) if you do agree to offer some advise on how many more are needed to make this a true submission.
Obviously if there are other specific issues that need to be addressed I would like some clear and quantifiable commentary about what those things are which are lacking and how to improve it.
I am also not the strongest writer and would value any grammatical or prose advise. Thanks much.

- Basically, you need significant coverage in multiple, independent, reliable sources. Click here to see a fuller description, but basically you need to have several well known newspapers and magazines that are known for having a professional editorial control policy write about your article's subject as often as possible, going into some depth.
- Looking at the sources provided, of the ones that have links, The Houston Events and Artshound references look like unreliable sources because the "Login" button on each suggests that anyone can register and add events in here - therefore there is no editorial control. The Mass. College of Art link is a primary source as it's relating to something related very closely to the article's subject. While you can use primary sources for basic facts, you can't use them to establish notability. So, in summary, you'll need to find some more sources - try a "News" or "Books" Google search and see if that helps.
- Regarding spelling and formatting - a good article (or even a good article ;-D) needs these fixed, but that's not a reason to decline an AfC submission. It's really all about the notability and the verifiability here. --Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 14:12, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
How to re-submit an article Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Vu Ky
Hello
I'm ready to re-submit the Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Vu Ky
I don't see any re-submission link when click on Articles for creation. How can I go about to do this ? thank you
Thank you. VietnamnostalgiaVietnamnostalgia (talk) 19:21, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
- Place at the top of the article when you are ready, if the automated link isn't displaying. Please be sure that you have dealt with the comments from the previous decline, as best as you are able to. There may be a delay as there are many drafts in the backlog. I am a new user...
I am a new user on Wikipedia and was wondering how long it takes before I am allowed to 'move' articles over to be reviewed before publication? And, is there anything that I need to be doing in the meantime to expedite this promotion.

- You need to be a autoconfirmed user ie: have an account older than 4 days and with more than 10 edits before you can move pages. Normally, a bot will move the page over to the correct location so it can be reviewed. Unfortunately, I can't pass the article, however, as it is not cited to any reliable sources, which are essential for an article to pass, and the tone of it reads very much like an advertisement, while we require articles to have a neutral point of view, describing the pros and the cons of the product. --Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 08:55, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
TKEnergizer (TKE)
TKEnergizer
The TKEnergizer TM (Thermal Kinetic Energizer) is a new type of heat source that delivers heat in the form of a well collimated and uniform stream of high kinetic energy combustion products. It is a very high efficiency heat source that can rapidly increase the temperature by one to hundreds of degrees within heating chambers such as furnaces, kilns, boilers, incinerators, crucibles, and the like.
The TKEnergizer TM is an ideal replacement for traditional radiant burners in major industrial applications such as steel processors, glass and ceramic producers, power stations, just to name a few industries requiring large-scale heating, drying and/or curing. TKEnergizer TM is fully patented, tested and proven in industry over 6 years. TKEnergizer TM systems are installed globally in several industrial applications where they are operating successfully, with new markets and applications opening continuously.
The TKEnergizer TM operates by combining the following principles:
1. Combustion is done in several stages that are controlled by a novel design of the spatial distribution of the fuel gas and air intakes, within the TKEnergizer TM chamber. The fuel gas is fully consumed in all the combustion stages, which are maintained at the exact stoichiometric ratio in all locations within the TKEnergizer TM chamber. Moreover, the combustion takes place at sufficiently low temperatures, thus ensuring that no NOx compounds are formed.
2. The stream of combustion products, consists entirely of H2O and CO2 molecules that acquire a high kinetic energy and the resultant momentum (mass times velocity) is directed along the TKEnergizer TM axis. There is no flame exiting the TKEnergizer TM chamber.
3. The system’s combustion chamber is separated from the heating chamber itself. Only the stream of combustion products enters the heating chamber, and the load is heated by the bombarding molecules transferring their kinetic energy to the load walls. This process is extremely efficient as the total calorific value of the fuel gas is made available to be transferred to the load.
Main benefits;
The TKEnergizer TM works well with methane, ethane, propane, butane and several other fuel gases, with combustion efficiency of CE=99.9%. TKEnergizer TM systems are available in various sizes with a delivered energy rate in the range of 0.5 - 300 GJoule/hour (1GJoule/hour is about 2.8x105 Watt).
Heating chambers heated by a TKEnergizer TM show drastically reduced hydrocarbon gas consumption (up to 80% and more in continuous operations, as compared with radiant burners). Their throughput is increased by up to 300% in both batch and continuous modes of operation due to TKEnergizer TM superior heat transfer properties. These heating chambers do not incur thermal stress and their refractory life is greatly increased.
Other TKEnergizer TM benefits include: unrivalled heating uniformity, lower operating temperatures, substantially lower emissions, less electricity consumption and significantly reduced noise levels. The TKEnergizer TM requires virtually no maintenance.
Moreover, since the TKEnergizer TM is separated from the heating chamber, the heat transfer rate to the load is conveniently controlled by pulsing the stream of combustion products. This allows the operators to rapidly reach their prescribed load temperature, and maintain it over the desired length of time.
More literature on the TKEnergizer TM technology and its performance in various applications, is available on www.TKEnergizer.com

My article was deleted, I believe unfairly
Hello,
My article was deleted. Please see http://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Howard_J._Buss&action=edit&redlink=1 The reason given was copyright infringement, but no specifics were given. I have checked this article over repeatedly for any problems, there are none related to copyright. Two Wiki editors looked at it previously and there were no copyright issues mentioned by them either.
I think the deleter was mistaken and used a heavy-handed approach. I cannot even find the article to revise it. I cannot contact the deleter. How should I proceed? Can the article be retrieved? Can someone tell me where is a copyright problem? I have put countless hours into this article and think it is an important contribution to Wikipedia. I also think it is ready, but I am willing to make any adjustments to get it right.
Thanks for your help.

- Hi. According to the log, your article was deleted because it was an unambiguous copyright infringement of another site. Due to Wikipedia's licencing, we cannot accept material copyrighted elsewhere, and it needs to be removed quickly for legal reasons. That said, you should have at least been informed that this was going to happen, using a template similar to Db-copyvio-notice, and not doing so was poor form and a good way to bite the newbies like yourself. I have asked the admin who deleted it for an explanation, though please note they may have deleted it for perfectly legitimate reasons. Hope that's of use. --Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:43, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
- The deleting admin can be reached at User talk:Yunshui. Any admin could, technically, restore the page or email you a copy. However, it is IMO (as an admin myself) unlikely that any would if there is a copyright problem, and would not accept the absence of such a problem without consulting or at least trying to consult with the deleting admin.
- AfC Reviewer User:Duncan listed this as a copyright problem. Unfortunately, neither he nor the deleting admin logged what site or source the draft was infringing the copyright of. DES (talk) 17:54, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
- Google suggests that the infringement was of the "About the Composer" section of http://www.brixtonpublications.com/Assets/Crossroads_notes.pdf I hope this helps. DES (talk) 17:57, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
- This is odd; I genuinely have no memory of deleting this article. Looking over it, there are indeed some copyright problems (mostly close paraphrases of the PDF DES has helpfully linked to) but not enough to warrant deleting the entire article, so I don't know what I was thinking at the time - my brain must have gone for a tea break or something... I will restore the page and remove the copied sentences manually. Sorry about that. Yunshui 雲水 18:54, 7 September 2012 (UTC)

I have received invaluable guidance and assistance from various Wikipedia editors concerning my article which has helped immensely. The most recent suggestion I received was to avoid all primary references to John's books and audio recordings in highlighting his philosophy. Another Wikipedia article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eckhart_Tolle is full of primary references, namely Tolle's book The Power of Now. In fact, this article has a whole section on Teachings referencing the book in question. Can someone explain why this is allowed on Tolle's site and I have been asked not to include such passages? Ibrahim Farghali
Introduction
Born on 19.09.1967 in Mansoura -[1]. Grew up in Oman and [2]. He obtained a BA in Business Administration from Mansoura University in 1991 and worked as a journalist in rose al Yousef weekly magazine, then in Nizwa magazine in Muscat (Sultanate of Oman) before getting back to Cairo again to work as a cultural editor at Al Ahram newspaper since 1997 , now he is an editor in Al Arabi monthly magazine in Kuwait.
Brief history
Ibrahim Farghali is a post modern novelist and is trying to prove a mixed style between reality and magic realism and one of the experimental writers in his generation. Farghali is interesting in some of his writings in the men women relationship The thematic concern in the stories focuses on male-female intimate relationships, a subject long denied by the conservative cultural milieu, sex being tabooed as the "other" of the sacred. In the stories, Farghali configures the female body as a site of contradiction that creates chances for proximity and/or estrangement.
In his works to date, Ibrahim Farghali has explored a variety of themes. In the short-story collection "The Ghosts of Feelings" he attempts to explore the relationship between Egyptian men and women, who come from utterly disparate backgrounds. Again and again, he tells the same story, but from a different perspective. By doing so, Farghali is trying to demonstrate how limited our understanding of people really is.
Abnaa Al-Gabalwi -- and, yes, the title is a translation back into Arabic of the title of the first English translation of Naguib Mahfouz's Awlad Haretna (1959) , also known as Sons of Our Alley -- seems to be that rare thing: a self-consciously self- conscious full-length Arabic novel, designed as much as anything to define the language's most talked about genre and, crucially, conceived on as grand a scale as can be expected.
As a literary critic, Farghali has been the quickest to dismiss such middle-brow, best-selling "phenomena" as Alaa El-Aswany's The Yaqoubian Building ; and his principal argument against such books is that they pander to a growing but limited -- and limiting -- worldwide market, that "they are not novels at all, but illusions".
Imagine, what it would mean for such a novelist -- any Arab novelist, really, but especially such a one as Farghali -- if the world were to wake up one morning to discover that every last copy of every last book by Mahfouz in the Arabic original has simply, without a trace, vanished off the face of the earth. Mahfouz's books disappear not only from bookshops and libraries but from private collections, from bookshelves and bedside tables, from every place where they could conceivably be found.
This, basically, is the premise of Abnaa Al-Gabalwi, which nonetheless incorporates numerous other frameworks, notably the appearance of flesh-and-blood reincarnations of some of Mahfouz's characters both in and outside their original settings, the government's efforts to do what it can to have the books back -- some people apparently know the texts by heart, others attempt to reconstruct them with the help of their knowledge of Mahfouz's work from translations -- and the very complex, gradual intermingling of the fictional world and the world to which it supposedly refers. There are not only characters but narrators, character narrators, doubles, triples, even quadruples. Subplots take on lives of their own, and there are multiple scenarios with a range of possible resolutions.
The many disparate and as yet shy strands of magic realism linking Farghali's books with such writers as Mustafa Zikri -- it was thought -- would eventually cohere into a more readership-oriented, ambitious and articulate body of novels.
Such books would combine the realism and social commitment of the Sixties narrative tradition with the individualism and physicality of the Nineties (the latter thus far accommodated mainly by the prose poem). It would give substance to the notion of an "age of the novel", espoused by critic Gabir Asfour at millennium's end, and express a range of recent influences from Gabriel-Garcia Marquez and Jorge-Luis Borges to Umberto Eco to Jose Saramago -- all of whom demonstrated how elements of the fantastical could be deployed to intensify reality and/or infuse the public realm with private experience.
