A gathering of Hindu Jat in Bhurtpore--1860s

Hindu Jat (जाट), refers to an ethnic group of north-west India[1] who are Hindu by religion.[2] They form the majority of the Jat population. Originally, all Jats were Hindu but some then converted to Islam and Sikhism,[2][2] as also happened in the case of other castes and clans such as Rajput and Chura. Those who were converted call themselves Jat-Muslims and Sikh Jatt, respectively.
