Gypsy is the first ever song by British Progressive rock/hard rock band Uriah Heep.It is also the opening track on their first album "...Very 'Eavy ...Very 'Umble" which was released in 1970.The song has become their first single ever worldwide but not in the United Kingdom.The song has been written by Mick Box and David Byron.The B-side of the song is "Bird of Prey".The album version of the song lasts more than six and half minutes long but the single version lasts less than three minutes.The song is also has been included in the 1973 edition of the newspaper "Uriah Heep Live" double album,with a length of about fourteen minutes.The song also has been included to the Uriah Heep first ever compilation album "The Best of Uriah Heep" it was the finishing track in that release.The song is about a man who falls in love with a gypsy woman.The song is also very famous for it's live performances the band is performing the song in their every live concert now,that's why it was also included to the bands latest live album "Live in Armenia".[1] AllMusic commented about the song that it is stopping dead which means the first part of the song is over then it starts to go on with organs and guitar solos.[2]
