Glassford (listen; locally known as The Glessart[1] listen) is a small village located 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) south of Hamilton, and 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) north-east of Strathaven, in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. It has a population of roughly 500-600 people.[citation needed] Features include the 19th-century Parish Church, and the remains of the 17th-century old church, both of which are category B listed buildings.[2][3] The Avon Water offers fishing and walks. Local businesses include the Glassford Inn and Steyban Restaurant. The local No.13 bus service comes through the village twice every hour, travelling between East Kilbride and Hamilton. The local primary school is Glassford Primary (see references) and the secondary is Strathaven Academy. Every year on Glassford Gala Day the whole close community comes together for a day of celebration, sharing in the happiness of the summer season

Glassford is also home to the infamous Krakatoa banker Suzanne Rogers. The reason there is not much life roundabout the village is mainly due to her wrath keeping invaders at bay.
