Logan are a Scottish rock band, formed in 2003 in Glasgow, Scotland.[1] The lineup consists of Kenny Collins (vocals), Alan Reilly (lead guitar), Mick Coll (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Steve Reilly (bass, backing vocals) and Iain Stratton (drums, percussion).[2] Their music and live shows have seen the band compared to various post-grunge bands such as Creed,[3] Nickelback[3] and Alter Bridge among others.[4]
To date, Logan have released five studio albums – First Leaf Fallen (2003); Welcome to the Wasteland (2004); Cruel Little World (2006); Exposed (2007) and The Great Unknown (2010). Despite being unsigned,[5] Logan have managed to sell over 30,000 albums[1][5] with two singles reaching the UK Top 40.[5]
History
Formed in 2003, Logan, consiting of vocalist Kenny Collins, guitarists Alan Reilly and Mick Coll, bassist Steve Reilly and drummer Iain Stratton, posted demos of their music on various American music forums,[1] gaining fans in the process,[1] before releasing their debut album entitled First Leaf Fallen the same year.[1] They released their second album entitled Welcome to the Wasteland in 2004, while they toured the UK, supporting Alter Bridge, the following year.[1] Logan continued to play shows before release two more albums; Cruel Little World in 2006 and Exposed 2007.
In 2008, the band supported Bon Jovi,[1][2][6] at their Hampden Park concert, before touring the UK[5] and supporting Alter Bridge on the UK leg of their Blackbird tour.[1] The same year, the band contributed the song "The Great Unknown" to The Jump-Off soundtrack[1][2] while The Scotsman named them one of the best unsigned bands.[5] By October, the band members had all quit their jobs to focus on Logan.[2]
The band played a number of Scottish shows in March 2009[4] before playing two shows supporting Thunder, on their 20 Years and Out farewell tour, in July.[7] They also played at Download Festival[8] while Logan won the Scottish Variety Award for Best New Scottish Band the same year.[4] They released their new album entitled The Great Unknown in 2010.
In July 2012 Logan announced via their Facebook Page that three of the band had quit (guitarist Alan Reilly, bassist Steve Reilly and drummer Iain Stratton), leaving singer Kenny Collins and guitarist Mick Coll to continue under the name Logan and recruit new members.
In September 2012 Logan revealed that their new lead guitarist is Max McPherson. Max McPherson annouced as new guitarist
