Jonathan Raymond is a writer living in Portland, Oregon. He published his first novel, The Half-Life in May of 2004. He has also worked as a screenwriter and wrote the short story on which the film Old Joy is based. [citation needed] Old Joy was shown at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival and 2006 Rotterdam International Film Festival and stars musician Will Oldham.

Raymond's professional duties include co-editing Tin House Magazine, editing Plazm Magazine, and teaching through The New School. [citation needed]
