Question is from User talk:Keith Edkins#2012_Atlantic_hurricane_season_tracks
The data is from NRL Monterey http://www.nrlmry.navy.mil/tcdat/tc12/ATL/ - select your storm and then trackfile.txt. I have a web page http://gwydir.demon.co.uk/nrl.htm which will reformat it into the HURDAT format used on the /Tracks page.--Keith Edkins ( Talk ) 16:06, 3 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Thanks a lot for those two sites – I was thinking I could help update that page occasionally. –– Anonymouse321 (talk) 16:12, 3 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- I'm sure you'd be more than welcome. Note that points before NHC declare a tropical depression have been edited out - there was some discussion about this at Talk:2012 Atlantic hurricane season#What to show on track maps? but I'm not sure it reached a consensus.--Keith Edkins ( Talk ) 16:27, 3 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Interesting... I will keep that in mind. –– Anonymouse321 (talk) 16:31, 3 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- On further reflection I decided that's not the right thing to do. I have restored the full tracks so the data can be used to recreate a single storm path. Anyone who wants to remove the pre-tropical depression points can easily do so as they are tagged L for Low.--Keith Edkins ( Talk ) 12:56, 4 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- So bottom line: leave the pre-tropical depression points? –– Anonymouse321 (talk) 15:58, 4 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hey there Anonymouse321, I saw your request in the adoption requests page and wondered if you are still interested in adoption. let me know! Libertarian=Truth? (talk) 22:01, 5 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Yes, I am. Would you like to adopt me? –– Anonymouse321 (talk) 22:25, 5 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Sure! I won't know absolutely everything, but just ask me questions, and I'll answer/find out :).Libertarian=Truth? (talk) 20:42, 6 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Allrighty, I have some courses set up here. Take them in any order, and leave the test answers on my talkpage if necessary. Any questions aside from that, leave either here or on my page. LibertarianSupport 17:03, 7 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Thank you; I can't wait to get started! –– Anonymouse321 (talk) 20:24, 7 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- me either.. You'll be my second adoptee ever, but this is my first time actually having something structural. lol. Anyway, Happy editing :)LibertarianSupport 19:17, 8 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Is there any limitation of age in wiki? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pratyya Ghosh (talk • contribs) 05:59, 7 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- No, there are no limits for the age of a contributor. However, I just happened to find this page that might help you (according to your recent questions). –– Anonymouse321 (talk) 06:02, 7 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Anonymouse321, regarding your additions to User talk:99.104.112.251, the reason I don't notify them of my speedy deletion tag is that I didn't want there to be a link on their talk page that they can use to create it again or say 'look what I did'. Instead I left a {{uw-create4}} warning which didn't link to the page, so that they had been warned if they do it again. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 01:22, 8 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Sorry, I didn't know what your reason was. I just saw the message that said "Please consider placing the template:", but I didn't think about that. I removed the notice. Again, sorry! –– Anonymouse321 (talk) 01:25, 8 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- No worries at all, whenever I tag something with WP:CSD#G3 or WP:CSD#G10 (and a few other criteria depending on the article and creator's history), I generally don't use the notification template. This is because it gives the user a button to click on to create it again and a way of saying look at what I did to Wikipedia, also in some cases the name of page is offensive in itself. Instead I use either
{{subst:uw-attack}} , or one of the warnings from the inappropriate page creation series (which is what I did in this case). Don't worry about talkback templates, I'll watch this page for a while. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 01:33, 8 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- That's great. I infer that you have had a lot of experience in this area. –– Anonymouse321 (talk) 01:36, 8 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- I wouldn't say a lot, but enough of vandalism and new page patrol, plus AfC work to have quite a few CSD nominations of pages which are vandalism and attack pages. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 02:08, 8 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Was this an edit conflict? --Anbu121 (talk me) 23:20, 8 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Yes, it appears that we both replied at the same exact minute with almost the exact same information! Sorry for the inconvenience. You can revert my reply and keep yours if you wish :) –– Anonymouse321 (talk • contribs) 23:23, 8 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Fine. Absolutely no issues --Anbu121 (talk me) 23:32, 8 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- I re-added your reply right above mine. –– Anonymouse321 (talk • contribs) 23:34, 8 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You seem very experianced for an editor who just registered on Sept 27, 2012. Have you edited under a different name or IP perhaps?--Amadscientist (talk) 23:53, 9 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Yes, I edited with an IP address for about a month. I also (in my opinion) am a very quick learner, and I have been doing a lot of reading over the Wikipedia documentation, help, policies, etc. –– Anonymouse321 (talk • contribs) 23:57, 9 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Well then...you are doing a fantastic job, that's for sure. Seldom have I ever seen anyone with only a months experiance learn Wikimarkup, policy and procedure so quickly. That is very commendable. It took me several years to figure out the markup stuff but only a few months of active researching to get more caught up on policy and procedure. I am still not 100% on everything yet, but you sure seem to have a handle on it.--Amadscientist (talk) 00:20, 10 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Thank you for your complements! If you have any recommendations for me to improve my editing, feel free to tell me (being an experienced editor yourself with roughly 5⅔ years of editing). –– Anonymouse321 (talk • contribs) 00:24, 10 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Wikiquette:3/3
Templates:I need to get some help to set this one up better, so I'll need you to retake in a few days, hint: you will need to use template wiki-markup, not just retype the question ^_^
Vandalism:6.75/7 I Liked your answers, but I marked down Question 5 because, although that is your view and some other's, I just wanted to emphasize that it can be seen that that practice could be used to hide/try to evade further punishment/administrative action.
So far so good!
