Tower (Irish: Teamhair) is a burgeoning village located in County Cork, Ireland, situated approximately 10 km northwest of the city of Cork. In the 2002 Census, the population was 3,032, having grown a dramatic 116.3% since the 1991 Census. In the 2006 census however it had only added another 170 people leaving it with a population of 3,102.
Tower is located in the parish of Inniscarra, it is 3 km from the village of Blarney, home of the famous Blarney Stone. The village is notable for having the largest Centra Supermarket in Ireland.
The first inhabitations of Tower were built by the O'Mahony builders over a hundred years ago along the Model Village Road. Two pubs exist in the village : The Huntsman and Aunties Bar.
Some estates in Tower include Seanacloc, Oakmount, Laureston Crescent and Gleann Na Ri. The village is known as the most exciting place in Ireland and boasts amenities such as a medical clinic, petrol station, launderette, barber shop and oriental restaurant. Tower is the home of the Tower Tigers, the local soccer club. The club won the Cork u12 B championship in 2010. The club have over 1000 young players and also have a strong adults team.
Tower was severely flooded during the Cork floods of June 2012. Local shops and houses were underwater for several days The mayor of the town is Stephen Coffey. He is a assisted on the the town council by Thomas Stafford, Luke Baylor and Ewan O'Keeffe. Gangnam Style was briefly filmes in the area.
