Wangshujuan

This is Wangshujuan, the creator of the article “Valeri Lilov.” After an extensive research on why my article was repeatedly declined to be published, another Wikipedia admin/associate told me to read through the official Wikipedia article on notability and find proofs on why my article is about a notable subject, whose information is proven by independent secondary sources. The admin also mentioned that my article is completely publishable by all Wikipedia rules and if he was responsible for it, he would definitely let it be published in its present form.

Here are a few proofs I took from the following Wikipedia page on Notability of people (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:BIO) which clearly define my subject, from the information provided in the article, as notable by Wikipedia standards.

1) “Basic Criteria: […] If the depth of coverage is not substantial, then multiple independent sources may be needed to prove notability; trivial coverage of a subject by secondary sources may not be sufficient to establish notability.”

The article ‘Valeri Lilov’ certainly does not provide one independent secondary source with deep coverage of his work and achievements in his field of tournament chess and private chess coaching, yet many secondary sources – websites with tournament final standings and short articles published on the internet regarding his awards in tournaments - do prove that he is a notable subject by the criteria described in the original Wikipedia passage cited above. (For more information please, review the references supporting Valeri Lilov’s tournament achievements in different countries.)

2) “Additional Criteria: […]

  1. The person has received a well-known and significant award or honor, or has been nominated for one several times. “

Valeri Lilov has won a number of prestigious tournaments throughout Europe during his chess career so far and all the verifiable events won have been cited and properly supported with legit references on his proposed Wikipedia article. One of the most significant awards is that he became a European Champion in his age division (also cited).

3) “Creative Professionals: The person is regarded as an important figure or is widely cited by their peers or successors”

As seen from the references provided about Valeri Lilov chess coaching career, he is widely cited for his published works, two DVDs by ChessBase, and is also regarded as “important figure” – popular coach – by his peers and successors.

I hope these proves are enough to show why the “problematic” article ‘Valeri Lilov” is about a notable subject and should be created to be part of Wikipedia. Please, let me know if you need more proofs for notability or more precise citations from the actual article ‘Valeri Lilov’ itself. Please, take some time and review the many references provided to support this article’s information and you will be convinced of the legit notability of this person.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Sincerely,

Wangshujuan

Hi! You signed up for the Sample Quiz on WikiQuizes yesterday, and you haven't done it yet. There's no rush, but I was just wondering if you had any questions regarding this. Also, I'll put your name on the Scores page so you can see your score. EWikistTalk 14:39, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yh, I was in the process of doing it when my internet died, and I was too tired to restart it. I am actually doing it now, so this conversation no doubt has caused a edit conflict... I'll post it beneath here when I'm done. Thanks! --Imagine Wizard (talk contribs count) Iway amway Imagineway Izardway. 15:43, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reviewer granted

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Dabomb87 (talk) 21:36, 23 August 2010 (UTC) [reply]

Adopt-a-user reminder

Hello, I have completed a general cleanup of the adopter information page for the adopt-a-user project, located here. During my cleanup, I have removed several inactive and retired users. In order to provide interested adoptees with an easy location to find adopters, it is essential that the page be up-to-date with the latest information possible. Thus:

  • If you are no longer interested in being an adopter, please remove yourself from the list.
  • If you are still interested, please check the list to see if any information needs to be updated or added - especially your availability. Thank you.
  • You are receiving this message because you are listed as an adopter here.

Delivered by MessageDeliveryBot on behalf of Netalarm (talk) at 03:38, 23 September 2010 (UTC).[reply]

hi :)

I didn't understand about adoption, Sonia is helping me, can you do it too? And one more thing, for my project I have to choose one topic to write about it, could you give me any suggestions?? I don´t know what does already exist on wiki and what topic could be interesting :S thanks! ALauBeltran (talk) 18:00, 3 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well firstly, WP:NAW. secondly I'd be happy to co-adopt. Thirdly, when you say a 'project' you have to write about, are you talkimg about a Wikipedia article, or something else ... ? If it's an article here, take a look at WP:First article --Imagine Wizard (talk contribs count) Iway amway Imagineway Izardway. 21:06, 10 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

An update from adopt a user

Hi there Imagine Wizard! You may be wondering, what have I done to sound the alarm this time? Nothing. I'm messaging you in regards to the adopt-a-user program, which currently has a backlog of users wishing to be adopted. This doesn't make much sense, as we have a considerable list of users offer adoption, so there shouldn't be any backlog. I've begun to eliminate this backlog myself through a matching program, but I need your help to make it work. Of course, adoptees and adopters don't have to go through there, but I believe it helps eliminate the backlog because someone is actively matching pairs.

On the list of adopters, I have modified the middle column to say "Interests." It's easier working with other users that have similar interests, so if it's not too much to ask, could you add your interests in the middle column? For example, if I was interested in hurricanes, computers, business, and ... reptiles? I would place those in the middle column. Counter-vandalism and the like can also be included (maintenance should be used as the general term). The more interests, the better, since adoptees can learn more about you and choose the one they feel most comfortable working with. The information about when you're most active and other stuff can go into the "Notes" section to the right.

Finally, I've gone around and asked adoptees (and will in the future) to fill in a short survey so adopters can take the initiative and contact users they feel comfortable working with. We all know that most adoptees just place the adopt me template on their user page and leave it - so it's up to us to approach them and offer adoption. So, please take a look at the survey, adopt those that fit your interests, and maybe watchlist it so you can see the interests of adoptees and adopt one that fits your interests in the future.

Once again, thank you for participating in the adopt-a-user program! If you wish to respond to this post, please message me on my talk page.

Yesterday (well early this morning) your UTC clock was stuck at 01:48 UTC for hours. Now (the next day) it shows 15:34 UTC. I bet it'll stay at 15:34 UTC for the rest of the day. Is this normal or is it my connection doing funny? I want to copy that clock to my pages.

If not, contact the user who designed the gadget you're using, probably this. --Imagine Wizard (talk contribs count) Iway amway Imagineway Izardway. 19:09, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Adopt Me

I am a newbie, hoping to improve an article, in a battleground.

I am not a CF POV pusher. I am for sure, for sure an anti-pathological science pusher. Go to my talk and the current Cold Fusion discussion to see for yourself. I take advise fairly well. I personally do not need the article yet I am appalled at how misinformed someone will be if they read it. I have never experianced that on Wiki before. That is why I am here trying to improve it.

Adoption or Help!

Hey Wizard, my name is Patrick and this is the first time I've ever written on a talk page so I apologize if I'm grossly failing to follow some syntax or format rules. However, I've made my first Wikipedia page, and it unfortunately was branded with an advertisement banner up top. I'm not advertising for anyone, and I've tried to rewrite areas that could be misunderstood as promotional, but I'm unclear as to I go about removing the ugly ADVERTISEMENT logo at the top of my page. If you could check it out in your free time and maybe point me in a direction towards cleaning it up that would be great. Thank you. The page is VERTEX_Incorporated. Again, I'm sorry if this is an inappropriate request, I'm just looking for a little help and have been unlucky in finding any specific information about my problem. Thanks again.

Cheers! Smartbro212

Smartbro212 (talk) 20:14, 30 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Patrick. Welcome to Wikipedia! :) To begin, there is no syntax or rules for talk pages, except to sign your name (which you did), and to be civil. Secondly, I glanced over your article, and it does seem very advertisey, as if it were copied from a brochure, rather than looking like a article. Firstly, you do not need to make 'VERTEX' bold in every mention except its first. You also just 'list' the products of the company, as if advertising them to people who may be interested, as opposed to informing what the company is about and what it is known for by the general public. If you read it in an neutral way, you can probably see that it appears in the same tone as someone who is trying to pitch their company. If you try and write it more as a article then an ad, then it might be appropriate to keep on Wikipedia. Take a look at some of the pages on [[6]] to see what some small articles about companies look like that are more neutrally written. If you need more help, feel free to contact me again, but as I am somewhat buried in an immense amount of workload, I may not be able to give you much time. I recommend going onto the Wikipedia English help IRC chat client for instant support.

All the very best, and I hope you continue to edit on Wikipedia. :) --Imagine Wizard (talk · contribs · count) Iway amway Imagineway Izardway. 21:11, 30 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Imagine Wizard. I'm leaving you this message because you have previously been involved as an adopter with Wikipedia's Adopt-a-user program. A clean-up of this program is currently underway, and as part of the process I am trying to find out who is and isn't still interested in remaining an adopter.

If you would prefer not to be part of the adoption program anymore, you need do nothing; when the overhaul of the project is completed your name will be removed from the list of active adopters. However, if you have current adoptees, an active adoption school or an interest in adopting in the near future, then please let us know by signing here.

If you want to remain in the project and can currently take on more adoptees, there is a serious backlog at Category:Wikipedians seeking to be adopted in Adopt-a-user; it would be enormously helpful if you could take on one or two of the users there. Please do keep an eye on the project for upcoming changes, we could use your opinions and your help! Yunshui  09:04, 19 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Imagine Wizard. Thanks for agreeing to stay on at Adopt-a-user. I've recently updated the list of adopters and I have included you, per your original comments on that page and your comments at User:Yunshui/Overhaul/Adopters staying on. You can see your new profile at the list of adopters. Why not update your profile with an image and maybe have another look at your description? You can also include a list of any adoptees you currently have. If you are also willing to mentor problematic users, possibly as part of a conditional unblock, please include "mentorship=yes" in your profile. Thanks again for all your help.
