The galjoen fishes are a small family, Dichistiidae, of perciform fishes. Two species are recognized in the family in the single genus Dichistius:
- The galjoen, Dichistius capensis Cuvier, 1831, is a shallow-water, reef-associated fish found in coastal waters of the southeast Atlantic Ocean and off South Africa. It reaches 80 cm in length.
- The banded galjoen, Dichistius multifasciatus Pellegrin, 1914, is a deep-water marine fish found in the western Indian Ocean and off South Africa. It grows to 35 cm long.
Both species make good eating and are popular commercial and game fishes.
