Dragon Warrior Monsters

In this game, Terry and his sister are playing but his sister says it is time to go to bed. Terry hears something and goes to find a strange creature. This creature, who calls himself Warabou, wants to get his hands on his sister. He pushes Terry aside, grabs her, and dissappears into a chest drawer. After that, another creature shows up to find Terry standing there. He reveals his name to be Watabou and you should follow him so Terry can find his sister. Terry is then teleported to another world: a kingdom built on a gaint tree. He is then greeted by an old man who takes him to meet the king. The king tells Terry that he is in the kingdom of Great Tree and to find his sister, he must compete in the Starry Night tournment for if he wins, he can wish for anything he wants (his sister). A long and challeging quest now awaits him....

Features

  • Breeding: Instead of evolving, as in Pokemon, your monsters are able to breed once they reach level 10. This requires for one male and one female monster. When you breed, the monster obtains characteristics of both parents. For example, if you mate a Dragon type monster with a Slime type, the monster obtained will be a DrakSlime. After the breeding, both of the parents dissapear and the monster obtained will be at level 1.
  • Leveling up: Just like in pokemon, you can level up your monsters. Each monster levels up differently depending what type of monster it is.
  • Families: Certain monsters are in certain families. Each family have different characteristics, such as gainnig levels faster or consistently having higher stats in one area. Certain monsters are more powerful then others, and some can only be obtained through breeding.

Families list

  • Unknown- these creatures are the most powerful and destructive in the game. These are usually some of the hardest to obtain. Sometimes, when being bred with other monsters, can create rare and even common monsters that might learn some very powerful abilities. These are sometimes referred to as the "Demon Lords" due to them being (at least some) based after villians from other games in the Dragon Quest Franchise. (updates coming)

Dragon Warrior Monsters II

Cobi and Tera are both in a family of monster breeders who have come to the kingdom of Greatlog to make a living. Shortly after they arrive, their mother asks them to pick up a package for her and they gladly do it. Unfornately, the package is taken away by the mischiefous prince and his companion, Warabou (the same from the original game) and you follow them to get it back. They find them in a cave underneath Greatlog and try to get it back. This causes for the plug to be knocked out of the hole. Warabou tells you if the plug cannot be found, the kingdom will sink. Another quest has begun...

Features

There are some differences in this sequel:

  • More monsters are now avaible
  • Keys-Instead of a fixed number of worlds, you now have keys to travel there. These keys need to be appraised before they can be used.

Two Versions

The only difference between Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru no Bouken and Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Ruka no Tabadachi titles were the different types of monsters that the player hero or heroine can obtain -- Iru's (the male character) game contains more direct damage based monsters, while Ruka's (the female character, Iru's sister) game contains more support type monsters, such as Healers and monsters that do status effects.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Caravan Heart

Dragon Quest Monsters: Caravan Heart diverts from the series slightly. The main character is Keifer at age 10. In Dragon Quest Monsters: Caravan Heart, the player get both monsters and human people to join the party, which is much larger than the previous games. Other differences include a supply system that requires your caravan make frequent stops to pick up supplies and the aformentioned combination of both monsters and human team members. One final, very large difference is the removal of the breeding system. Instead, when defeating monsters in Dragon Quest Monsters: Caravan Heart, the player occasionally gain "monster hearts", which also made an appearance in Dragon Quest VII. Using 1 or 2 Monster Hearts, the player can merge a monster into a newer monster form, similar to Shin Megami Tensei's system. This allows three "parents" for young monsters in Dragon Quest Monsters: Caravan Heart, and increases exponentially the number of breeding comments. Caravan Heart is the prequel of the PSOne game, Dragon Quest VII.
