Dedication

Was it true that the memorial was dedicated on the 200th anniversary of Jefferson's birth, or am I making that up? Mike H 11:44, Nov 20, 2004 (UTC)

Well, yeah. It says so in the article. --TheCoffee 13:57, 1 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Doesn't mean that it's true. I'm not sure exactly. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.58.239.249 (talk) 21:30, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox and image placement

I just added the protected area infobox to the page, and had a particularly tough time adjusting the images -- trying to get a good one near the top left. The problem mostly comes from the long Table of Contents. I did a much better job just now on the Lincoln Memorial, but the best solution for this one eluded me. If anyone has a better idea for image placement, please give it a try. — Eoghanacht talk 22:43, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I just uploaded a number of photos from the 2006 Cherry Blossoms. Gallery -- These photos primarily include the Tidal Basin, Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial, FDR Memorial, and National Mall. If you have any specific requests for images, just leave a message on my Talk page I should be able to get those by mid-June. Provide as much detail as you can for what you are looking for in the image. --Thisisbossi 04:33, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

just find his birthday and when it was deticated the find the difference. you will know if it's true or not. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.210.154.151 (talk) 16:33, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Retrofit year-topic headers

29-April-2008: I have added the headers "Topics from 2004" (etc.), between the topics above, to emphasize dates of topics, in the style of other talk-pages. -Wikid77 (talk) 06:00, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image placement 2008

29-April-2008: The left/right images had crowded the text to one-word width for 800x600 screens, so I shifted the images into wider areas, moving the construction/interior images nearer the related text. The image-placement now fits for either small/large screens, avoiding text gaps at 1024x768 resolution. A prominent change is that the construction image appears beside the "Construction" subheader, rather than at the "History" subheader. -Wikid77 (talk) 08:01, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Wikid77, i have been meaning to catch up to you because I noticed you authored the template {{infobox nrhp map}}. There's a new alternative that overlaps in functionality, {{infobox_nrhp2}}. I applied it in this article just now to demonstrate it. This NRHP2 infobox is narrower and doesn't look as good in some ways for this article: it compresses the included image which looked better before. It also displays a map, which probably should be turned off from being displayed. However, it was incorrect for this article to be claiming that the site is an IUCN Category V (Protected landscape/seascape). It is "protected" but it is not a natural area, so is not a Protected area, and in fact it is not listed by the WPDA. See current conversations in WikiProject Protected Areas at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Protected areas#Revisiting NPS areas, dropping many of them from this WikiProject and Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Protected areas#Jefferson Memorial and in WikiProject NRHP at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject National Register of Historic Places#Updated infobox for nrhp?. doncram (talk) 11:06, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I removed the map by blanking the locmapin parameter. There is an image_size parameter for infobox nrhp2 that can be set to any number to display the image at that width if needed. All of this is explained at Template:Infobox nrhp2/doc. --Dudemanfellabra (talk) 16:49, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for removing the map for now, and for changing the image-size to 288px so that the image-width, and consequently the infobox width, is the same as before. Thanks! doncram (talk) 20:52, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Build date

It states that the build date is 1937, yet it was started in 1938 and completed in 1943?--Airplaneman (talk) 02:16, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

what Jefferson REALLY said about the Negroes

Nothing is more certainly written in the book of fate than that these people [Negroes] are to be free. Nor is it less certain that the two races, equally free, cannot live in the same government. Nature, habit, opinion has drawn indelible lines of distinction between them. It is still in our power to direct the process of emancipation and deportation peaceably and in such slow degree that the evil will wear off insensibly, and their place be . . .pari passau filled up by free White laborers. If on the contrary it is left to force itself on, human Nature must shudder at the prospect held up.

Because it drives egalitarians crazy. They believe what they want to believe, not what is TRUE, and they even insist others believe as they do! They murder even Truth herself to keep their veneer of moral superiority untarnished. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.79.124.223 (talk) 22:55, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ionic or Ionian

Well, which is it? I don't like the word ionic. It sounds like chemistry. But do these words mean the same thing?Longinus876 (talk) 15:38, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
