Sir Frederick Charles Doveton Sturdee, 1st Baronet (9 June 1859 - 7 May 1925) was a British admiral. He entered the Royal Navy in 1871 and rose to become Chief of War Staff at the Admiralty on the outbreak of World War I. In December 1914, he decisively defeated the German squadron under Graf Maximilian von Spee at the Battle of the Falkland Islands, for which he was made a baronet. Sturdee commanded a squadron at the Battle of Jutland in 1916, became an admiral in 1917, and was made Admiral of the Fleet in 1921.
