Template:Infobox Indian jurisdiction Duttapukur (Template:Lang-bn){also known as Duttapukur is a census town under Barasat police station of Barasat sadar subdivision [1] in North 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal.

Geography

Duttapukur is 30 km from Sealdah, 7 km from Barasat and 32 km from Bongaon on the Sealdah-Bongaon section of Eastern Railway [2] It is part of the Kolkata Suburban Railway system.There are also a big play ground at the corner of main platform.

It is on NH 35 Popularly known as Jessore Road.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[3] Duttapukur had a population of 19,882. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Duttapukur has an average literacy rate of 77%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 82%, and female literacy is 73%. In Duttapukur, 9% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Education

There are many primary and higher secondary schools. There are many reputed higher secondary schools; Duttapukur Mahesh Vidyapith (H.S.), Nebadhai High School and Nebadhai Balika Vidyalaya.

There are reputed secondary schools: Adarsha Vidyapith, Rajiv Gandi Memorial School.

Mr. Subrata Basu (Nebadhai High School) & Mr. Swarnakamal Biswas (Duttapukur Mahesh Vidyapith) both were honoured by "National Teacher" award from Govt. of India.

Healthcare

North 24 Parganas district has been identified as one of the areas where ground water is affected by arsenic contamination.[4] In this connection, Rotary Club of Calcutta has taken a project purifying the rain water is to be given to the Kashimpur High & Girl’s school through Duttapukur RCC (Duttapukur Shibalaya Samabeta Sangha).

Different types of Health Awareness Programmes organised by Duttapukur Nirmala Medical Aid and Social Welfare Society, operated by Dr. N.C.Kar, Mr. Uttam Dey and Mr. Dhiman Das. Netaji boys club arranges Blood Donation camp and many social events every year. They also organise Drama competition for three days every year. Duttapukur nebahai yuba gosthi inaugurated an ambulance for health care of the villagers.
