Global Football Club is a Filipino association football club originally formed in March 2000.[1] They are the current champions of the United Football League after gaining its first title in the 2011–12 season.

History

The team started in Division 2 of the United Football League inaugural season. On that same season, the team managed to finish top of the Second Division with an unbeaten record. As a result, the team was automatically promoted to LBC-United Football League First Division on the following season.

Global won the 2010–11 United Football Cup and was on the brink of winning the 2010–11 United Football League season title but eventually defeated by the 2009–10 United Football Cup champions and 2009–10 United Football League season champions Philippine Air Force in the 2010–11 United Football League season finale.

After the club suffered from a surprise 2–3 loss to Stallions in 2011–12 United Football Cup, Dan Palami gave to Graeme Mackinnon the job to coach Global.[2] Mackinnon debut game for Global against Cebu Queen City United is a 3–0 victory.[3]

Citing some family concerns, the 65-year-old coach who took Global FC to the semifinals of the UFL Cup and to second place after six games in the league resigned. Since the club will have a short break, Dan Palami said he will use the time to find a coach similar to Mackinnon's performance.[4]

Global FC won their first league title on goal difference against runners-up Kaya, after a 1–1 draw with third-placers Loyola Meralco Sparks on 26 June 2012.
